Title: IGT PE+ "Treasure Chest Bonus" Poker from Boyd casinos

These machines are found in the Boyd casinos in Downtown Las Vegas (Main Street Station, Fremont, and the California), and are bill/coin-in, coin-out.

Sadly, this wasn't hit by me, but I did find this picture of a $0.25 Treasure Chest jackpot:

Wonder who made this game for Boyd Gaming?
Also wonder if award is predetermined and selection is irrelevant, or if each chest has a different award? The game doesn't show you the unchosen chest's awards, suspect award is predetermined.

And wonder if there is PAR sheet out there for Treasure Chest?

Basically an 8/5 Jacks or Better with bonuses on four-of-a-kinds.

A great change of pace for VP players. Also like Aces/no Faces too!

Great pics Knagl.

I suspect that treasure chest was a custom build by IGT, but I can't confirm it.

I suspect that the outcome is predetermined for the quad bonus. I have Jackpot Poker by IGT (similar concept), and the math on that game dictates that the bonus awards are not weighted evenly.

I'd love to get my hands on Treasure Chest and also the Pay The Aces (No Faces) game you mentioned as well.

Forgot to ask, did you ask for your scratch off card at MSS for your quad? That would have been worth a minimum of $2 extra.

Originally posted by uniman on 2/26/2013:

There is no manufacture listed on the glass, next time I'll ask and see if anyone has an answer.

Saw a sticker on the machine stating something like, No bonus cards available for this machine and $3 played equals one slot point on this machine. So no, did not ask for the scratch off.
Hit a deuce quad on the Aces/no faces and hit the 250 coin three ace bonus. Didn't ask about the scratch off then either.  Duh!
Do plan on going back. They have a lot of coin-in poker machines.

I knew that the Treasure Chest Poker games were $3/point for the slot club, but that's news to me if they're excluded from the Score With 4 (scratch card) promo.  If/when you go back, could you double check the sign on there for me?  The last time I was there (which now was about a year ago) they still gave them out on those machines.

Also, if you happen to hit a Straight Flush or a Royal Flush, those two hands are also eligible for the scratch cards, FYI.

Originally posted by uniman on 2/28/2013:

Yep, your right! Went back last night and the sign says "No Bonus Play on this machine". Meaning no free play. Don't know why I thought it said cards??
And of course last night I hit no quads.   That's the way my luck goes.

Took the motorhome to Vegas last weekend and stayed at The Main Street Casino RV Park. The park is a paved parking lot just north of I-95 on Main Street. Cost was a very cheap $16 bucks a night with full hookups. Nothing to brag about, you can hear highway noise and the area of town is not the best at all. But security was present, the park gated, and it was actually very nice. This way we can take our two dogs with us and spend the night!
It was a good time!

A slot tech at Main Street told me he thought (don't quote me, he said) the Treasure Chest Bonus Poker was acquired by Boyd Gaming after they bought the Treasure Chest Casino in Louisiana. Hmmm, I'm not so sure.
A check online of the Treasure Chest Casino revealed no Treasure Chest video poker at that casino. Still quite a coincidence.
They still give out the scratchoff cards for 4 of a kinds and some slot wins. When playing quarter poker the cards have a minimum $2 win, up to $5000. All mine were $2. The nickle video poker scratchoffs are minimum $1.
Played the Aces no Faces and hit four Queens on the draw. Later playing nickles I hit four aces with a deuce on the draw playing Super Aces for $100.00. Wish that hit would have come on the quarter Aces no Faces!!

Went shopping in Vegas today and decided to stop by Fremont Street. My wife put a $20 in a Treasure Chest poker machine and began hitting straights, full houses and flushes. Then she hit a 4K on the draw and won 140 credits.
A few hands later she again got a 4K on the draw and hit this..... :244-

Never thought I would see one of these!

Interesting that it was the first chest just like Knagl's pic. Hmmm, think I'll be picking the first chest from now on.

I do know for certain that the $1,199 isn't always in the mix.  I just don't know if all five buttons will reveal the same result, or if there is a difference in which one you pick.

I just happened to come across this image (not from me) that shows an $1199 Treasure Chest win using the right button, so it's possible to win there, too!  :)

This game has been found and put into MAME.  Unfortunately, we are missing the CG roms and therefore the bonus round and attract screen do not render properly.

The game number is PP0816, a non-superboard type game.

I have started recreating the graphics for my own amusement based on screenshots on the web.  An example of my work is below:

So far I have only recreated the image of the chest when it is closed, and the skinny numbers used to display the bonus value picked.
There are 8 more frames of animation of the chest opening that need to be created.  The pink area you see is a placeholder for the
casino's logo such as "Sam Boyd's".

If anyone has some good pictures (or info on the real CG names), please let me know.

Stolistic, that's amazing progress in a very short amount of time!
Title: Re: IGT PE+ "Treasure Chest Bonus" Poker from Boyd casinos

I added an image for an open chest.  I still need to create all the frames in between the open and closed.

While testing I at first thought the chest bonus value was pre-determined.  But now can say for certain that the chest you pick determines the payout.
So that's kind of interesting to know.  This particular version has a top prize of 5000 (not $1199).

Great progress!!  Looks amazing, Stolistic.

Are you able to see which values are available when selecting a chest?  Based on the math of the paytable that we can see, there's no way that the top award (whether it's 5,000 or 4,796 coins) is always in the mix.  If there was a legitimate 20% chance of getting that top award on every quad, the game would be a big loser for the house...
Title: Re: IGT PE+ "Treasure Chest Bonus" Poker from Boyd casinos
Post by: Stolistic on May 27, 2014, 07:56:20 PM
OK here is the exact information on the chests:

1. When you pick a chest it records the chest number for animation purposes only.  The chest DOES NOT determine the payout.
2. It then proceeds to call a random number generator for a number between 0 and 399 (400 possibilities)
3. This number is then looked up in a table to determine the payout.  The lookup table could be different per game version if needed.

Payouts for this Game:
0: Pays 5000 (Jackpot)
1 thru 12: Pays 500
13 thru 28: Pays 250
29 thru 88: Pays 180
89 thru 399: Pays 140

If you happen to get the jackpot a special "jackpot" graphic is displayed in the cloud above the chest (mine is missing).  The game then goes nuts cycling the background color of the screen through the color palette and plays several different jackpot songs over and over.

Unrelated, I recreated the Sam Boyd's logo too.  :Tongue_Out:

So, a 1 in 400 shot at the top award (at least on this ROM).  That makes a lot more sense.

I'm actually pretty sure that this information has never been available before.  With this info, we could calculate the exact percentage payout, including the bonus.  K+ to you again.

Many IGT poker games have the payout percentages listed inside the game rom.  This one reports as 98.4%. Of note: The payable (except for the Jackpot) matches P11A (poker programs PP0449 or PP0221) which has an optimum payout of 96.1% so the Jackpot ups that by 2.3% if that's what you're looking for.

Another way to display the numbers Stolistic posted for the chest values is:

Award  ---  Odds

5,000 = 1 in 400 (0.25%)
500   = 12 in 400 (3%)
250   = 16 in 400 (4%)
180   = 60 in 400 (15%)
140   = 311 in 400  (77.75%)

Based on the numbers Stolistic posted above, the average quad is worth 173.35 coins.  Putting that figure into the VP calculator on the Wizard of Odds website (http://www.wizardofodds.com/), I come out with 98.4320%, which matches with the 98.4% figure you mentioned.

Wow, that's was great work! I'll start watching the Main Street's dumpsters for those actual game chips!  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This game is fun to play and my money seems to last longer. Especially when I get hits like this one at The Fremont last Sunday!!
Also received a free Jackpot Tee-Shirt.

I have seen the jackpot $1199 on a different chest other than the first one too. Usually I get the 140 credit win. Never had the 500 yet either.

I've gotten the 500 before.  In fact, the only one I've never hit is the $1,199.

Maybe this time I'll hit the 500 or even the $1199.

The one in 400 chance of  5000 sounds better than 1199.
5000 with a W2G will be >2500 and it gives you an excuse to write off your other gambling losses.

The various pics in this thread from Stolistic starting with reply #5 (May 26th, 2014) show MAME snaps during the bonus rounds using his custom modified graphics.  Currently the official IGT CG roms are known to be CG2283 and have not been archived.  Also read his detailed post (reply #12) on how the bonus round works.  This is information Stolistic gathered while using MAME's debug mode and running the Treasure Chest Bonus game rom.

The actual game rom was pointed out to me by a MAME user in a random collection of IGT game roms posted on a Brazilian electronics site.  The archive contained a few other game files but no graphics roms for the Treasure Chest Bonus game.

You need to realize that this was most likely a custom game designed for a specific casino (or chain of casinos) and it's a complete fluke that this rom got "out"  We may never locate the correct CG rom set or see an alternate version with different payout tables / bonus.

There are well over 3000 game sets that run on the PE+ platform and less then 10% have got to the hands of MAME friendly devs.  This platform is and has been in the process of being fazed out for quite some time.  Some of those machines ended up in wild and in the hands of collectors / hobbyists. So the more that's been archived the better chance one of those machines can be restored if needed.  Still almost 30 years later people hold on to sets and horde them like gold. I on the other hand believe the more information that's "out" there the better for everyone. That's why I compiled and released my PE+ Master List database to everyone for everyone.

I'm new at this so I really don't know what a CG rom is, I did'nt know if Stolistic had fixed the TCB MAME game (I was hopping he did) by looking at his post's, but I can tell you it was easier to get a 4 of a kind at the Cal Club then free on my computer :24:  I know there are a lot of MAME rom's for PE+ that don't work. I have 2 PE+ boards with different games for my machine (I would like more to keep it fun) but I think its more fun on the game machine then the computer but fooling around with MAME is fun also.

Actually as of MAME 155 all PE+ sets work as I (with the help of Stolistic) have made several changes to source files to get them to run.

The CG roms are the 4 graphics (character program) roms which are labeled like CG2005 MR0 (MB0, MG0 & MX0).  Turning the Jackpot reset key until you come to the screen as shown in the attached picture.  What games you do you have on your boards?

I like having the mother boards it make it so much easier to change games (I've had to repair broken chip legs)
Games I have
XM0004p = DD Bonus poker, Nevada Poker, Joker Poker, D Bonus, D Deuce Poker
XM0007p = Bonus Poker 4 of a kind, DD Bonus Poker, Deuces Wild, Jacks or Better, D Bonus Poker
I do like MAME and would like to learn how to dig into the programs but I'm more of a hardware guy so my brain has a hard time getting it.
The TCB (mame)game I have is missing 1 of the payouts it has a blue square where the amount should go and at the start of the game it says its not a complete game.

That's 100% for the MAME version because it's using the wrong graphics rom chips.  Currently the official IGT graphics roms for this version of Treasure Chest Bonus is CG2283 and is undumped.  Stolistic created his own version by modifying set of graphics roms and adding some of the missing graphics.

Well after some digging around it has been determined that the correct CG graphics set for this program PP0816 is actually CG2283 + CAP2283 however it is known that CG2204 + CG2204 is also a Treasure Chest graphics set.....

Sooo.........

If anyone has them in any form please PM me here.  Thanks!

I know this is an old topic and this rom is incomplete, but I've recently started loading my new IGT MAME machine with roms.
Played the treasure chest game and when I hit 4K it stopped for 10 seconds or so, then went into the bonus round screen.
No chest graphics but there were instructions to pick one chest.
I made a choice, hit the second hold button and after another 10 seconds of it doing nothing, it went back to the regular game and payed me 180 credits.
So the bonus sorta happens without all the fanfare and graphic treats.
I'm using the ROM off of that famous french site and MAME build 0.154.0.0.
I wonder if updating my version would help any? Last I knew 155 was the one to have for the IGT roms.
Are there ever newer updated roms of the old IGT PE+ stuff out on the interweb??
