Title: MAME - Generating Modified Program or Data File - Checksum
Post by: royalindiamonds on January 05, 2019, 12:45:18 PM
All - just installed MAME and all supporting components on my Mac.  Everything's working fine and I'm amazed at the emulation layer developed by stolistic.  In this forum he references creating his own original and/or modified program/data files and goes so far as to say the checksum would need to be modified for them to work in a real PE+.  I've just spent several hours trying to determine what checksum algorithm is used by IGT but have not been successful.  Does anyone know if this is documented anywhere?  Multiple searches for same across this site have not revealed anything.  Thx!

I don't know that he ever published how the checksums are generated, however there are some tutorials he posted which you may find helpful if you're attempting to build an original game.
