Title: question about printer validation
Post by: mr-monoxide on December 04, 2016, 01:36:24 AM
I just set up a new game and the validation setting is only allowing system and enhanced for options, no standard in the list. I've run into this before and so far have always been able to solve the problem by swapping around OS and/or cpu's with different bios versions but this new game is being stubborn and will not allow the standard option regardless of my attempts to fix it. So I'm posting in hopes of gaining a better understanding of what actually controls the printer options. I thought it had something to do with the bios or OS since changing those had always solved the problem before but now I'm thinking it may have more to do with the jurisdiction chip. Or is it all 3? OS, bios and jurisdiction?

So to answer my own question, yes it would seem the printer validation has everything to do with the jurisdiction chip. I ordered and installed generic no limit j-chips and all my printers work great. "Standard" is now always available in the validation options list.
