S+ No Power to display or reels
« on: April 04, 2023, 05:05:10 AM »
Hello everyone, hoping someone can help. I picked up a Jungle Jackpot for near nothing, I have power to the lights, which I know is different then power to the machine, but thats it. No display. Reels turn freely.  I took out the MPU, and put it into a test machine I have, and it worked fine...so thats good. Replaced the battery on the MPU as well. Swapped out the molex cable, which is common for burnt pins, but that as well worked in both machines, and no sign of burn. The bill validator also worked in both machines. Am I looking at a power supply issue? I do have a multi meter, but not sure what settinds or where to test. There is some surface rust in it, as well as a mouse bed or two that i got rid of. No signs of chewed wires thankfully.

Any thoughts?

I don't see rust on the floor, do you?  :rotfl:
Was that thing in a flood?

Fully inspect and test power supply and motherboard....maybe get a rabies shot at the local clinic for yourself.

I have a working IGT s+  frankenmachine, that I use just for testing, and the motherboard worked in that machine just fine. I don't know much about power and how to test, and where, and what settings, et

Swap 'em...one at a time...see if they work on the test machine.
Whatever doesn't work is what makes you open up your wallet, look at that last Benjamin Franklin you have and go buy.   :arrowthruhead:

You didn't say anything about testing the fuses.
Pull them out - check them for continuity with your meter (set on Ohms).
If the machine got wet and shorted at some point a blown fuse is a good possiblity.

The power to the reels comes from the large molex that plugs into the middle of the fixed motherboard.
Using your multi-meter on DC voltage start with the good machine - there should be a ground and then various voltages from each of the wires.
Write down the voltages for each then re-do the test with the bad machine.
Are you missing voltage on one of the pins ?
This will point to a fuse or possibly a bad power supply.

Let us know and we can further into additional troubleshooting.
