IGT S+ games (Sizzling 7s and Triple Double Diamond

Hello All, I am new to this arena. I just purchased 2 machines A Sizzling 7s machine and a Triple Double Diamond. With the help of many posts on here I was able to get the Sizzling 7s machine up and running. The only things left to do are change the locks and upgrade the DBV-200 to accept new bills (I have already ordered the chip). So thank you. The Triple Double Diamond machine is another matter. I have replaced the CMOS battery, but cannot get any front panel lights to work. Also the reels become rigid when its powered on, but unlike my other machine, if i move them they do not return to the original position. any thought  on either issue? I have already checked the connector on the main board. it was a little burned, but I cleaned it and it appears to be supplying power.

Given your S7;s are up have you simply tried swapping the MPU into the Diamond machine.
Assuming the problems are the same you can then eliminate anything with the MPU board itself.

Next -
I would check your fuses - sometimes the holders are brittle and fall apart when you open them - thats an easy fix.
Check the fuses with a multi-meter as sometimes they look good but are not.

Fuses and Fuse holders are good. I took the Power supply out of the machine and tested the outputs. THe small plugs show 8V AC+- and the large plugs show 110 V AC+-. I have not swapped boards between machines. I will try that. Thank You.

I placed the motherboard from the Triple Double Diamond (TDD) machine into the working Sizzling 7s machine and the result is the same as on the TDD machine No front LEDs and reset dos not work. Not sure if it is a bad motherboard or a bad chipset. Any thoughts?

Swap the MPUs not the motherboards.

I will swap them the other way tomorrow. my guess is the MPU is bad, but will find that out tomorrow when I swap them around. Thank you for your patience and answers.

The MPU is the removeable.
Motherboard is the small fixed board.

Sometimes we have seen No LED with similar symptoms when you have bad software or a leg or two of the game chip being bad. By swapping the MPU you have eliminated that possibility.

We are now looking at a bad motherboard, power supply or harness issue.

Regarding the motherboard - with the machine off use a strip of cardboard and flashlight to look under the board to make sure there is no coins under shorting things out.

You can always test your diamond MPU in the S7s chassis. That’s not going to help solve your problem but it will prove that the board is goo.

There are no coins, but I may have found at least one issue. there is a small connector that has two wires in the front right of the board one of the wires is not connected to a pin. I think I need a new connector. I will rewire that once I get the connector with pins.

I put the known good MPU in the non working machine. It did not work and the results were the same, except the bill validator just kept cycling. Still no front panel lights and reset button behind the power switch does nothing. I did find a burnt connector that I cleaned and tested. I plan on replacing it. There was a small thin connector that had 1 wire disconnected. I will be replacing that as well.

That 2nd green wire above the burned out female pin  is really, really bad.
I highlighted it in pink.
You can clearly see that it is swollen above the Molex housing connector.
The green covering actually looks "bubbled".
That means the wire inside of the covering is cooked.

It started at the female pin trying to hold onto the male header pin.
After a while, the female pin slowly start spreading apart...creating microlightning bolts inside, heating hotter and hotter.

You need to replace that power harness.
I'm wondering how bad the male pin is....it could be completely oxidized.
You'd have to at least try sanding it up and down on all four sides to try to remove the oxidization for better female pin contact.

Can you take a photo of the connector housing that red w/black stripe wire was in?

I was planning on replacing the connector for that green wire anyway so I might as well redo the entire thing.

As for the other connector, attached are pictures of each side. There were two wires there, but 1 was loose and not installed and the other was barely there. I have pulled them from the connector housing and was planning on replacing it as well. there are the same 2 wires in the connector on the other machine (Sizzling 7s) I assume they serve the same purpose.

oh okay...that one goes into the right front long header of the motherboard.
Someone was just using that red wire and a black ground wire for a 12 volt DC power adapter.
Lot of player tracking companies borrowed that spot to use to power their gadgets.

If you follow it, it may go up to a small COM board attached to the back wall under the reel shelf.
It may have a black plastic rectangular cover over the circuit board and you'll see a couple of small LED lights.
That board sends machine accounting info back to the backroom server for the IRS and gaming commissions.
Not need for home use unless another wire comes out of it running up to a topbox computer for like a Barcrest game.

OK thank you. This one does not have anything like that. the other machine has some type of modem in the top box that is disconnected.

So far all of the wiring checks out, but in cleaning up the MPU board I found that two of the chips have pins that are broken off (CMOS and Game Prom) as a Navy Electronics technician I have removed chips in the past and I am sure I did not break them off when I took the chips out. I have a Chip removal tool and removed them slowly. Any Idea where I can find replacement chips for this game (Triple Double Diamond) I did a short search and was unable to find. Game PROM is labeled SP932 10/29/97. I assume the CMOS Chip will be the same for all S+ games, but you know what you get when you assume so I will need a definite answer on that as well.

Which Triple Double Diamond game do you need software for?  2, 3 or 5 CM? 3 or 5 Line?

I believe its the S7' that he needs the software for.
SP932 - which I have almost no record of is a 2coin BAP platform.
Unfortunately the online link to the 2coin BAP is not coming up on my work machine but all the others are - perhaps the link is broken (could also be the web filter on my work laptop).
