Title: cashflow errors
Post by: puckhead on January 20, 2021, 03:27:11 PM
williams bb1 with a cashflow.  getting :billval system errorbillval stacker openbillval comm errorbillval stacker full
different can didnt help. pretty sure the interface card is bad, the copper edge connector looks crappy. another one i had, i had to replace it. if i wiggle the head, the leds come on , it cycles, and then the red led blinks weakly and slowly.  one concerning thing, at the botton of the where the can pulled out, i found these two little plastic bits, see pic. did the come from the bill validator unit somewhere, causing me a problem. if anyone has a card( with two switches on the bottom, let me know. thanks

tried a new cash can and interface card.  it sounds like it should, all lights on bill head are out. if i pop out the bill head and pop back in , the left and middle lights come on, it cycles, and then all lights are out.  i still get the following errors:
pending status:billval system errorbillval stacker openbillval com errorbillval stacker full
as seen in the previous pic, there were two little broken plastic nubs in the bottom of the cash can enclosure. is there some kind of switch not being pushed in and sensed?  also, in diagnostics, i see no menu to check , test or do anything with a bill validator.  is the a netpelx type thing i have to scan? do i do a key and clear?  i bought it from an old man who said it was working, but didnt try it at the old guys house. he was moving and stuff was all over the place.

thanks

First things first, sounds like you popped the head out and in with power applied.  NEVER do this as it can cause electrical damage on the backplane or worse.  If you have done it multiple times, there's a higher likelihood that there is damage there already causing your issues.

Things to check.

1.  Under device configuration, is the validator type set to MEI?
2.  Check the jumper settings on the backplane to make sure they are set to RS-232 and not loop.
3.  Are you sure your bill head has the correct firmware?
4.  Check the cabling on the back of the validator to make sure nothing is lose or damaged.

Just because the old man said it worked, doesn't mean it did, he is trying to sell you the machine after all.

Those two plastic bits are someone slamming the door on the head bill guide and busting it off...probably a couple of times!

No biggie..throw them in recycling.

Look for FutureLogic printer or Netplex in the set-up menus.

the only option for netplex was seiko netplex. thats the one i tried, no good.  i didnt look at the other ones, so i cant say if i saw future logic or not.  also, please confirm, i have to clear again to set printer comm? anything else i should look out for?

thanks

no...you don't have to clear.

Go back to where you saw a seiko netplex option....there should be others?

Please stop double posting.  You posted your printer issue on the printer page and here.  It is difficult to keep threads in one place if you ask the same question in two places.

You have a PSA printer and your label sticker says PSA-66-001N.
The "N" at the end of the model number means "Netplex"

Try the PSA-66t setting....even though it may be for RS232 interface.

Is this printer one that was already in there or did you buy this printer to try to install it?
We need to see the harness behind the printer to be sure.

was in there. i set it for the time being for no printer, to get past it and on to any other issues.  i still get bill val comm error. i notice if i move the harness coming out of the back of the bill validator housing, the lights on the head light and dont light.  it always something, i'll keep plugging away.

The back of your bill validator has loose connections....that's why the bill entry lights go off and BV Comm error comes on.

Something I noticed that others may not have caught, you stated that your printer had a sticker on the side that said IGT.

If that's the case, it's probably not compatible with your machine as the firmware versions are different. I believe WMS uses GNUSA7510.

Something to think about next time you're at the machine troubleshooting.
