Title: Help! My BB2e won’t boot! No signal
Post by: RubySlipperLover on August 05, 2021, 11:09:36 PM
My bb2e is doing what it did last time. No signal on both monitors emotive lights start flash of then back on after so many seconds, but I just got a new video card and this time it didn’t fix it. What could be wrong. The lights on the cpu and backplane light up. Fans on cpu spin, idk what to do. Please help!

Did you try another MPU?

Yup that’s what I’m working on now gotta guy I know that does repairs ordering one now. That was my IMMEDIATE differential diagnosis since I’m pretty good with tech repairs. But I also thought, jeez I already spent $150 on a video card on eBay, is it worth it to find these more rare listings that allow returns and keep going down the most likely list. Naaa, I’ll just pay for a service call, the guy I know is very reasonable and it doesn’t take 15 days to get parts. And I don’t have to worry about the return if it doesn’t fix it. Anyways, yea I was thinking since these are the symptoms I’m having, should be either a new cpu-nxt 2 is needed, or a new backplane. If it goes past that it’s probably a connection issue between something, ie power supply and cpu and or backplane (GOD PLEASE NO.) nice to get reassurance I was on the right track!

There is a chance the replacement video card is bad.  Happened to me once on eBay.   Can you try it on another CPU?

Nothing beats having spares around for just this sort of thing.  I have like 3 spares NXT 2 mpu's since I have 3 machines that use them.  They are cheap enough now to stockpile if you want to protect your investment.  Once the mpu's dry up, they are hard to get/expensive.

Yup I have already considered this. For question one, I’m going to double check the video cards (the old one and the new one that could be bad). It said tested on eBay but that’s what we all know how that goes. I want to stock up for sure I’m gonna order at least one spare in the near future. Everyone cross your fingers this goes well on Monday or Tuesday.
