This is new to me ... the 268 is also on the wiper boards as well as the hopper. Looking for info on this along with the correct reel glass .... any ideas?

Dave, Any pictures? I use to have one years ago that had 8 Ball on the reels strips, but I don't remember much about it if it was EM or E-Series..

Here is the reel bundle. I am not too sure of the model because the plate has been removed from the cabinet but there is a bell located outside the cabinet behind the handle. That should help to determine the model. Would love to find the right reel and belly glass for it. Belly glass is probably the original fruit rectangle glass but we will see.
thanks ... Dave

My best guess at the model of machine that those reels come out of is a 742A Star Special. Circa 1964ish.
Your thoughts?

Dave, I know this is going to sound dumb, but what good are the 8's if their not on # 2 reels? :crylaughing:

I am wondering the same. It will be a challenge to track down info on what machines used the 8 ball symbols and find out what models it was used on and why. :applause: :dancing_2: :applause: :dancing_2:

This one isn't as old, but it's also a bally with some of the same reel symbols as what you have.

the strip numbers will tell alot - as well as the reel disc numbers.

The reel strips match the index disc numbers. This is an older Bally because the dates are 1965 on the strips and the old style cabinet has the bell mounted on the outside of the cabinet behind the handle. I haven't checked if this is a normal place for this or not. I do have the #268 on the front of the reel bundle next to where the meters used to be. I have included a pic of the 3 reel strips as they sit n the bundles. All looks to be correct at least in matching. I cant wait until I have room in my apartment so I can put it all together so I can fully check it out and to see if I have the bundle and hopper cleaned and adjusted correctly. Oldest Bally cabinet I have worked on besides the console Reserve Bells.

first of all it is a matched set so the comment about only 1 8ball? anyway - I would say this is a 742 series machine - 49 way. I no longer have the manual that matches the strips to the game as I sold off all my documentation to Jeff Hildebrand at vintageballyslots@gmail.com

Thanks for the help ... I have sent him an email and will keep you informed. :hail: :dancing_2:

Jeff felt that this machine is a machine called a 49 er.
Jeff wrote
"I believe it is from a 742A - Forty-Niner. I surmised this because 1. The '49' in the reel strip leads one to think it points to a specific game.
2. The strips have a Watermelon, Eight Ball, and Bar which seems to be limited to the 49er
at that time, at least in the book and how those machines are portrayed.
3. I can't see the rest of the strip but there should also be "7", and a STAR."
I feel that he is right on this, he is a great contact for Bally EM's info and he has acquired Barry Fox's parts.
Now all I need to do is find the belly and correct reel glass, bell and a little bit of reworking some of it and I think I will have a good machine.

Dave, we may have the topper for that machine. If you are interested, let me know.

Thanks, but I would need the chrome mounting unit as well. Whoever did this machine, put the bell on the handle side outside of the cabinet, drilled a hole thru the side just behind the handle. I also dont think the reel glass is right. Can you send a link to the photo of the plexi header. Iwould be interested if I can find the mount for it too.
Thanks for the response.

Jeff Hildebrand [vintageballyslots@gmail.com]
That is who I understand picked up his parts. Nice guy ... I want to take a trip down that way to meet since I am in Philly. But maybe he will be at Whiterose Gameroom show in York PA and we will say hello there.

We have the headers/MPU to as well. They are actually aluminum I think, as they are not shiny chrome. Lt me dig the topper out and a nice mount for it and I can email the pics to you. May take a couple days, but fairly certain we have this topper.

Thank you very much. I appreciate it. :thank_you:

here are a few more pics mine does not work has a 42 error i know thats 2nd real but no clue how to fix it
-
joneb99 - It looks like your machine is a similar game, but in an E series, not an EM (E Series were produced later and has the little red display). Welcome to New Life Games! If you'd like to start a separate post (New Topic) regarding your issue, I'm sure someone can help you out! If your machine has a metal tag on the handle side of the machine, get the model number for us and include it (with the pics you just posted) in your new topic to give us even more info.

Error 42 code could be a bad reel reader board. You can swap it with the 1st or 3rd reader to see if the error moves. I do repair the readers if you need to have that done.
