Looks like you got yourself a little bit of work to do. You'll be pro at fixing these after you get this one going!

Looking at the top area, looks like an 809 machine with stop buttons added. Doesn't look like the European model because the buttons are not placed correctly or the correct button used, like on a Sir Prize machine.

In the bottom pic, I see a lot of wire nut and wires where the meters used to be. Also the addition of the red connector ... I really feel that it has been severely altered. If it were mine, I might carefully place it back in the barn, turn around and leave it there.

It would make a great parts machine, but for restoring, I wouldn't want to take it on..   I would buy it for $50-$75 to have for it's parts..  That is if the glass is useable..

I still think it's a converted 742A.  See if the top box looks like it has been added.
That's a LOT of work there....

Something isn't right about the door. The proportion is wrong, it looks too wide for a 709. It has textured panels where it ought to have grooves. The reel glass is right for an 809 but the belly glass looks clear with a printed picture behind it. I don't like the look of this machine at all, it jest aint right.

I noticed the front door at first, but the back of the doors just doesn't look right as well. Very few wires, and its wrapped in tape instead of the normal string wrap.. It only has 1 door plug connector and different door hinges..  Beau plugs, reel shelve and handle gear box look correct tho? Very confusing machine? I thought the belly glass was a reflection from the camera, but at a second glance Op-Bell is correct again.

I still don't understand what I'm seeing. That's clearly a wide-reel door. The photo isn't distorted because the picture on the belly glass is in the correct proportions, and I can see the glass is more than 2 times wider than it's high instead of the 15x8 of a narrow cabinet. But the mech in the bottom picture is a narrow one. Also, the cabinet is plain wood inside, no steel liner, and the door has lift-off hinges. That makes it way, way early, before there even were any wide reels. It's a hybrid of some kind. I doubt the parts even come from the same kind of machine. I'd want to see a photo with the mech in the cabinet, with the door partly opened so I could see the front of the door and the mech at the same time, before I'll accept that freesurfer isn't trolling us.

*edit* Looking again I'm convinced that picture 4 is a narrow cabinet. This door cannot possibly fit on it. And there don't appear to be enough wires going to the top box for that cabinet to be an 809.

I'm sure it right door  if it had chrome  frame on top box glass it would look right imo also it has a newer hopper aka snow hopper from  mid 70,s , imo  there s a lot of work to be done on something that might have  parts from different machines

'K, on taking measurements from those latest pics I see I was mistaken about it being a wide door. I guess the very first pic was taken from a high angle that foreshortened it. I still don't think that's an original door but it's unmistakeably an 809, a very old one, and it looks like it's all there.

Aha. so that button panel is an extra piece covering up the door metal. That explains the non-original texture.

Here's a partial schematic. I have a full one somewhere but I can't find it.

That front door piece does match the side panels.. You could have a very rare piece of gaming history there.. I've never seen a reel glass chrome bezel with the sides pattern before.. Maybe a prototype? I like the pattern on the front of my 742, you don't see these very often.

OK here's a link to a manual that covers the 809 and other Bally EM's of that era. It should have everything you need: schematics, diagrams, adjustments, etc
If I were you, I'd download this file to your computer. That way, you'll always have it. I printed mine out and put it in a binder.
I hope this helps...

Freesurfer,
Be sure to download the Bally manual, as a reference. This is your most important tool.

Fortunately, I see no other Summit crapola, just original Bally EM. It looks like a lot of work, but this slot can be restored. The holes in the door plate will be hard to disguise.
