The batteries on your MPU are probably bad.  If you replace the batteries while the machine is powered up (although I have never done it this way, I was told it would work), you don't need to clear the machine, but you probably have to power cycle after changing them.  I always power off MPU, replace batteries, clear machine and setup again.  I've always been paranoid of replacing parts on an mpu while powered up.

Ya I’ve never changed the batteries with the machine on either would you happen to know what key chip I would need in order to clear it so I can go ahead an get one on the way? Because if I change them with it off then I would need to clear it correct?

It's a BB1, 1810 clear is the latest clear for that machine.

The model of the machine doesn't really matter in this case, since you could also put a NXT2 mpu on it which coincidentally can use the same clear 1810.  You only need to remove/replace the OS card while doing a clear, you can leave the game card alone.

Did you replace the battery before you performed the ram clear?  Also make sure the mpu is latched all the way into the backplane.  There's a lever on the bottom right side of the mpu, you need to pull down on the lever and it should move about 1 to 1.5 inches when the mpu is latched.

I’m not seeing the latch you are talking about, I changed the batteries then did the ram clear then put operating an game in an got this message

Latch is inside the squre.  It has a black rubber sleeve on it.  Also the batteries appear to be in the wrong direction.  The positive side (flat) faces down, your photo appears (although not entirely sure) to have the batteries with the positive side up.

Ok so with the latch I messed with it a couple times do I leave it forward or backwards when I shift it, all the lights are lite green so I’m assuming the batteries are on correct

The lights just indicate the different power rails coming into the mpu are correct, it has nothing to do with the batteries.  Did you check both batteries' orientation to make sure the flat side is facing down?
