Title: No power on screens
Post by: Delma on May 24, 2022, 10:50:25 AM
I've tried just about everything I know to try and I still am not able to get power to neither top or bottom screen. The entire machine is getting power. I have light on my backplane and CPU. Even the CPU fan is turning constantly but I don't have any orange, green or any light period to show indication of power on either screen.

Removed and replaced both screens from working machines
Replaced video card from working machine
Replaced CPU from working machine.
Replaced Power Supply from working machine.

All of these parts are verified and working parts. Even when I swapped machines they work fine. All I can think of is backplane maybe? Not really sure that would change anything as the backplane is receiving power just fine. A little lost with this one.

Did you use a meter to make sure there's 12v for power connectors to the monitors?  You might have blown microfuses on the backplane if you don't as the monitors I believe trace their power to the aux power connectors on the backplane.

Yes sorry forgot to mention that. No I'm not getting 12 volts off this white power cable that plugs into the monitor. I traced that plug and it goes back to the area circled in the picture. So do you think there's something wrong in this area that needs replaced or should a try a different tested working backplane from a working machine.

I don't see any circles in any of the photos.  But I would try another backplane.

Sorry it was too big. Had to resize. Ok I'll try a working backplane.

yes, all those plugs on the side for power are fed from the backplane if I recall properly.  Since the 12v led on the backplane is lit, it seems to be the aux plug that has some sort of burn trace or something like a micro fuse is blown.

You can use J16 or J22  on the backplane if either of them are open.  Those are the primary sources of power.

After changing almost every component I finally found the problem. No clue exactly how is missed it but I found it.

Good find, I wish mine was that simple.

I've got the same exact problem with a BB2.

Power from the 2 Aux Connectors is fine, I use 1 for the Emotive Controller and the other feeds the 2 LCDs.

I've swapped them and they both provide power to the Emotive Controller, but nothing is making it to the Junction Box that feeds the Monitors.

Glad you found your problem. I'll have to tear into that box and see what's burnt/disconnected.
