Title: 1998 19” I game with CRT
Post by: Phan000 on October 09, 2023, 06:25:24 PM
New to me project cabinet that I’m  working on.

Came with a bunch of 3902 boards.

Getting a coin-in jam, meter disconnected.

The primitive IO board seems kind of flakey.

Is this a replacement item?

That second Molex connector appears to be not fully inserted...the retaining clip isn't fully down.
It needs to go in further.
I've circled it in yellow.

Good eyes.   I tried unseating and reseating the molex a few times.  The issue remains while fully inserted.

Machine came with second IO board.  Works a little better,  coin in tilt goes away, but the meter disconnect and bill val errors remain.

What happens when you use one of the other MPU boards?

The other boards all take much longer to load, and all have the meter disconnect error.

My main goal is to make this into the WOF game as I have the glass and topper.

It has a different board than the others.  Photos attached.

Power supply seems a bit spotty,  but I can deal with that after.

Ok.  If the meters really are connected or bypassed with a jumper then replace the lower cabinet I/O board.  It's the smaller of the two boards on the I/O card tray.

The MPU board you posted pictures of is a 3802 with a sound card daughterboard installed.

Thanks.  That is very helpful.

The meter is connected.

Any idea what the part number is on that I/O card?  I don’t see it,  might be faded.

The part number is 758 248 03.

I made some progress swapping the I/O Cards with the spare (and also partially functional) board.

One tilt left-  Bill Val error.

What is the best way to remedy?

Thanks!

What type of validator is it?  Usually it gives a little better error description like Bill Validator Comm Error, BV Stacker Error, etc.

Wba 13 SS.

It doesn’t make any of the usual winding up noises.

I tried a spare,  untested wba.  Error went away but doesn’t take bills s

However… game is working!   Thanks!!!

It's always fun when you get a machine full of different broken stuff!  At least you're making progress and getting there  :applause:

Was gifted the board glass and topper for this machine.  It’s been a quest to find a cabinet to put it in.

Will be a big, tacky, glorious homage to WOF when done!

Nice machine you're putting together!

Do you like the actual game?

Not really.  Seems all but impossible to complete the puzzle.

One issue has come up-  after leaving the game running for a long time, it resets or crashes sometimes.

I noticed there are no fans at all in this cabinet.  With a 19” crt, I’m thinking the board is overheating.

Oddly though,  it does not look like there was ever a fan installed.

I've been curious about this game for years. Maybe one day I'll get it.

Yeah, your computer components need a fan!
