Author Topic: Need some advice on a eBay item. AVP 3.0 MPU (Read 3317 times)

Came across this casually browsing https://www.ebay.com/itm/DFI-ITOX-AVP3-0ME-AVP3M0-500G-Socket-S1-AMD-Motherboard/112598629184
Does anyone have any insight on it? It looks very close to a 3.0M MPU but missing some electronics. Has a IGT part number but doesnt seem to match much.No processor, made by DFI tech and has sold quite a few of them.
For the price I was thinking of grabbing one or two for spares but there is a area that is missing a lot of components.

I have a 660 brainbox and it matches mine. Looks like the only thing missing is the CPU and RAM or am I missing something else? Maybe I should snag one?

Hummm, maybe thats why so many have sold.Doesnt quite look like the 3.0M because it doesnt have the DVI port but thats the only thing other than the missing electronics. The image attached is a 3.0MI guess that could be due to the lack of onboard video.For the price, I grabbed one at $65.00 (hint hint)

Oh ok. Yeah, they removed the DVI connector on the 660 and use a PCI video card instead of the integrated graphics card on the 625.

Amazing how that board looks like a circuit board for the first Windows XP OS driven desktop home computer I built like 21 years ago....lol
Been so long ago I think it was made by a company called ASUS?

Mine is sitting on the Fedex truck bouncing around until Monday. I forgot I got it delivered to the office which was closed today.

Very nice. I got my new 660 yesterday. It's still sealed up in it's original anti-static bag so I think I'll probably leave it that way until I need to open it for some reason. BIOS chip is installed, but no version information on it. I assume I'll need to program it before attempting to use it.

I picked one up from this guy as well to build myself a benchtop testing unit. (New Frankenstein...lol)

Would like to start with a game I liked called Golden Goddess. ( Was my favorite one time)

Shopping for a CPU processor chip and heat sink/fan for this motherboard online.

oh...memory sticks too...2GB perhaps?

What should I be looking for?

These are the CPU's that are used on the 3.0M, 625, 660. Coincidentally if you have a 3.0 mpu (single core CPU), if you replace the cpu in it with one of these, you have a 3.0M mpu.

yep...I ordered the Turion 64x2 as suggested guys.
I have a brand new ATX power supply in a box somewhere around here.
I love the fans in those atx's...waayy better than what they put in slot machine power supplys

Now...I just gotta search for schematics of a button deck so I can make a harness.
Maybe I'll use an S20000 button deck I have laying around and swap out the connector pins to make it work.
Thanks for the part suggestions...I'll get this puppy going when everything comes in.

What goes into the PCI1 white socket with two coin batteries?
I have to get one of those, a backplane and some sort of internal power supply that plugs into the 24-pin J24 header.
Going to search for a pinout of the power header, maybe I can make one.
