Maybe a dumb question but is there a way to search the old site? I see index of forum but no "search" window.

That's just it, I didn't belong to the old site. I have no login.

I don't think the Search function choice will appear on the old NLG site menu until you've logged in.
Did you try a google search of the old site? Go to google.com main page, then enter newlifegames.net followed by what you are searching for. Maybe google will find the old site webpages for you.
Example:
on google home page type in newlifegames.net bally 5500
to find info about Bally 5500

That "kind of" worked but I still can't find what I'm looking for. I know I saw it at some point and I thought that is was from the old site. I'm looking for the pinouts for connecting a keyboard to the vision LCD monitor.

I'd try sending a pm to someone in admin here to ask about possibly getting a login for the old site. Maybe they could set it up using your same username and password here, or a temp password. But when the old site was archived they may have lost the ability to create new user accounts so I wouldn't count on it too much.
If you saw it on this site then the Search here should have located it for you. Or you may have seen it on the old site by browsing around the various threads.
