Title: i'm stumped
Post by: wizeone on May 29, 2020, 01:58:05 PM
what would cause a igt 044 (3522 and 3448) to hang on boot?  no error message it just stops. the bottom of the screen still says zero checking but the dots that normally appear on the screen showing its doing something stopped moving.

i noticed one of the leds on the mpu goes off when it locks up.

tried to reseat the mpu/flash, changed battery, reseated the ps none of that made any difference.

holding the test button when turning the game on does allow it to go into the boot menu.

of all the machines i turned on today had 4 of them do this. all were 17" uprights.

anyone seen or know what to do with an issue like this?

4 machines at the same time??  Did you have a big storm with power outage? or power surge? brownout?

Have you tried using a dev  chip and have the flash checks bypassed?

they were turned off 3-18-20 along with every other machine in nevada.  if there were any power outages/spikes during the 2 1/2 months they were powered off, i do not know.

try a 39 just to see if it will boot up?  i cant leave it with a 39 in it, the GCB would be pissed and so would my boss

If it is a 044 mpu and you have a telltale battery (Green Varta), that might be your issue as well.  If it is discharged or won't take a charge, it might be the issue.

just a quick update, every one of them has the telltale battery on it.  gonna try removing it and see what happens

If you remove it, you have to put a good one back.  Otherwise it won't work either, unless you cut away some components, but then the associated things that the telltale keeps track of would no longer work.

we use usa/NV software so gonna pull the telltale and u24 like tilt described and showed in his video
