My BB3 lost sound , anyone out there that could help on how to fix the board inside the cpu box ?
Thank you , Al.

The sound is boosted by an amp I believe....could be nothing wrong with your CPU board.
Try swapping the speakers and amplifier in another known good working machine to make sure THEY work.

I have one of these problem CPU 3.2s and it looks like rickhunter has several, I know that my problem is with the SPDIF digital audio interface which is the RCA connector at the top of the board. I have lots of experience reverse engineering complex electronic systems, time to have a look into this.

The "workaround" is to unplug the spdif cable and run the analog harness from the backplane to the audio jack input of the amplifier board. This obviously doesn't fix your spdif, but at least you get sound out of it.

Touch up the connection with some soldier

The board can be repaired. It's a multilayer board of course, solder may or may not clear up the problem. Generaly a bodge wire is used: From the plug to a component, but I don't remember the component it's on the top of the board though. The trace is not on top.
