Title: S+ coin tray w/speaker
Post by: Shaggy on November 09, 2014, 07:48:23 PM
OK I've seen these on E-Bay. S+ coin trays with speakers like the S2000's have. Do these work to enhance the bass or are they something they're just making to sell? They are really expensive. $100 with shipping. If they add bass like the s2k I would be interested. If they are an after market piece of junk, not so much. I love what they do for my s2000. But I've never seen them for the s+. Any input???   :Scratch-Head:   Thanks, Dave.

I think it was the S+ Barcrest that had a Bass speaker in the coin tray but I can't say for sure

Seeing as how a S 2000 tray with speaker will fit on a S+    I'm not sure if that will qualify as JUNK

But lets think this over, in my opinion a S+  sounds for s**t, add a base speaker in the tray and all you will get is a S+  with crappy base sounds.

Thanks Buzz,
So have you ever really tried one of these with the speaker in the coin tray? This is not an S2000 tray but actually an S+ (with the hooks on top) tray. I am wanting to know if anybody has tried them and has any response on how they play. Granted the little bitty speakers on them sound like shit. I'm more concerned if the the larger speaker will add some depth, that the little speakers don't. I guess what I'm wanting to know is while 2+2 equals 4.  Does 2+4 equal 6 or maybe better? Thanks, Dave.

It's better but not as good as an S2000.

S-plus Barcrest coin tray had the speaker. That is what they are. The tray speaker only played during the barcrest bonus round. The rest of the time you had normal s-plus sounds.

Yeah thanks for the info. I tried Buzz's idea and modified an S2000 to fit and gave that a shot. Much louder and not quite as much "tin" ring to it. With a decrease in volume, might work. Dave

Shaggy  I'm not sure what modifications you had to do, I walked by some of my machines and noticed a S+  with a speaker in the tray my conclusion was that I had accidentally installed a S 2000 tray on a S+  machine.

A little short story, when I moved from town to out in the country I had this Pitbull dog that never barked, so I taught this dog how to bark. This must have been one of my better moves in life, why in the hell would a person teach a dog to bark ??  This is about the same way I think of a bigger speaker in a S+ . A S+  sounds for crap, why in the world would someone wish to amplify that sound !!

Gotcha, I had to file the corners down a bit to get it high enough to mount into the machine. Not much about 1/8". Like putting a dress on a pig. When you get done all you have is a nice looking pig. Thanks Buzz.

I can guarantee you nothing has been filed on this tray and the door closes just fine. Oh and your eyes aren't deceiving you, that is a 5 reel S +
