Title: Hopper-Change to .05
Post by: Piney on September 02, 2017, 08:56:06 PM
S+ machine
Hopper originally set for 50 cent

Dug up parts to change the hopper plates and wiper arm for .05.  With 100 or so nickels, a larger payout give the dreaded 3300 error.  As I continue to fill the hopper  (stop chuckling...) and I let it run,30-50 or so coins come out then it stops.  There is a coin jam-- see attached.

QUESTION-- Is there a hopper part or adjustment I missed ?  It seems as if the bin has
too much space at the point the bin feeds the coins onto the wheel.

Your shelf wheel may be worn and rounded out from age and wear.
I think IGT used the same shelf wheel for 5 and 25 cent.
A slight adjustment of the hopper optic was all that was needed.
Is the hopper over paying?

It leaves 50 or so coins -- It doesnt jam the wheel-- just leaves the pile of coins stuck with one another.  I can add more coins and it will run and feed as the new coins just pass over the pile of stuck ones.

So-- a hopper is a hopper is a hopper ?-- One just changes the two wheel parts and the wiper arm for each denomination coin/token ?

I've seen large coin hoppers that had a spacer. It is attached to the hopper bowl lip where it attaches to the hoppers motor and coin wheel. These are used to allow more room at the bottom where the coins gather to be picked up. The dollar and half dollars are thicker then quarter and nickels. The spacer is the same shape as the edge of the hopper bowl, and is about 1/4-5/16" thick. See if your hopper has one.

The hopper appears to be once piece- -no add on spacer I can see.  Unless the hopper bin itself has a different part, that's how its going to run.  It's not jamming, just not emptying as expected so I'll let 'er run.
Thanks

It's normal for the hopper to not pick up coins when the level is low however judging from the pic you posted it appears to not have a small coin pin wheel. 25c & 5c pin wheels are the same. 50c & $1 (40mm) pin wheels have a greater space between the pins to accommodate the larger diameter coins. 25c & 5c shelf wheels are different. PN: 5750508 for 25c, 5750506 for 5c.
