Title: Bally Alpha 2 Loading Alpha OS
Post by: Delma on March 03, 2021, 06:02:25 PM
Ok so in a process of elimination i swapped CPU's from a working machine that I know work and put it in a machine that just keeps getting hung on Loading Alpha OS. Well that CPU even after I cleared it did the same exact thing. The CPU that was in the machine that keeping getting stuck on Loading Alpha OS when placed in another machine and cleared worked just fine!!! So it not the CPU that's causing this machine to get stuck on the loading OS screen. It has to be something else.........question is what else could cause this. There is a board behind the CPU that has a CR2032 battery on it. Well I changed that battery as well and same result. I don't see anything on the other boards inside the machine that looks like a fuse or something could be blown. I'm puzzled. Can anyone help. Please let me know if the pictures are not what you need to see or you need this explained better.

A little update. I have now gotten these machines to boot up. But it’s when I have only the primary 32 monitor plug in by itself. If I try to boot with both monitors plugged in it will not boot and just hang at loading alpha OS. When the 2nd monitor is plugged in it just mirrors the corner of the ideck for some reason so I just run these machines with one monitor plugged in. Still searching for a way to fix this problem.

So in looking at your first picture it looks like the topper video is on the lower 22" monitor. The games is on the 32" top monitor. Question is on the fire link games will they work on a V22/32 platform or are they just for a V32 cabinet?
Maybe one of the pros can confirm.

You are one of the pros at least in my eyes. I mean you know what you’re talking about. I’ve gotten solid tips and help from you. As far as the 22 inch goes it’s not used in the firelink game and neither is the topper. Just with a chair in front and outside looking in, the firelink symbol looks more inviting on the 22 inch screen instead of the topper. That’s a simple change though. Where the vga from the topper and vga meet in the middle of the machine I juss removed it from there and plugged the vga into the 22 inch screen. Can easily be changed in seconds. On the machines I’m referring to where only the primary 32 can be plugged in in order to boot properly, whether the vga was in the 22 or the topper it would still just mirror the left corner of the ideck, enlarged.

I did have problems with the video signal being mixed up so that the Ideck was at the wrong resolution. Unfortunately i can't remember exactly how i ended up fixing it. It was either I cleared the machine. turned it off installed all the video cable correctly and then rebooted it, or i may have had to re-install the game software. Might try the first method (clear) first. I believe these machines remember the hardware that is plugged in when you install the game software so if something was plugged into the wrong video port it remembers it even after you change it. thus the resolution is off.

Yes I'm having this problem with Michael Jackson right now. Just loaded it up. Everything went smooth. set it up and Ideck isnt properly displaying. Neither is the topper(only half screen). 32 and 22 monitors are perfect. Game plays fine besides the fact that you can't change the bet amount on the Ideck. pretty much just have to use the button. I'm going to clear and set back up with the Vga's swapped and see what happens.

For Forum sake and in case anyone wants to know that doesn't.......Unnecessary things plugged in causes this problem. Just because there are cords there doesn't mean they all need to be plugged in. Me being a beginner with these machines did not know this. Only takes one cord (Display port or DVI) plugged into the video card on V32 games. VGA's on cpu are for the Ideck and topper. That's all that's necessary. I had too many things plugged in. Good to note that if you attempt to boot up and any configuration that's different than the last time you cleared the machine it will also get stuck on loading OS screen.
