Title: Handle Locking in Down Position
Post by: Bally Bill on March 07, 2017, 08:37:14 AM

Hi, I have had this  intermitted issue with this .05 machine from the day I purchased it but now I need to get to the bottom on the cause. When I remove the reels mech for service and reinstall to test it will some times lock the handle down and I will have to get a long screw driver to push down the flat handle release tab and push the Latch lever to unlock the reels. I pull out reel mech and reinstall and it works good again? I "am thinking this could be the Beua plugs not making contact or maybe the A or C switch is not closing or dirty? The handle release coil is getting the signal from the coin relay letting me pull the handle and the dash pot and handle release coil work on the down stroke.

Bill,

The handle stays down occasionally and won't return?
Sounds mechanical, check the full stroke pawl assembly.
It may be gummed up and or need lubrication.

yes I checked that first and it seems to be  working fine with the reel mechanism removed, I think I "am going to re-solder the wires going to the coin relay coil because this might be causing the handle lockout coil from releasing after the down stroke occurs...just a theory

Adjust the L bracket

Right the L bracket #17 on most machines is even with the back of the reel frame. If its to far forward the handle travels to far before the reels kick.
Pushing the trip lever assembly to far holding the handle in the down position.
Also check the the drive shaft #31 if its out of adjustment the reels won't kick.

I checked the L bracket and its even with the reel body like my other 2 machines, I also compared the measurements of shaft #31 and its within a 1/8 inch of the other bally slots.
I stripped and re-solder the 2 wires on the coin relay coil and removed and installed the reel mechanism 4 times and the handle is not locking down anymore...weird but I hope that fixed that issue for good.  Thank you everyone!
