Title: Homebrew Mastercom Emulator
Post by: Eddiie on May 07, 2018, 08:20:09 PM
A buddy and me have spent the better part of the last 6 months going over and over and over Mastercom packet captures.
The goal is large and this is just the first step but want to get this out and get some feedback.

Simply remove the Mastercom controller from the chain plug in our MASTERCOM Emulator in, apply power and you're done!  Ok, you will probably want to edit the message stored on the SD card.

Currently the code reads a config file from SD card, the config file contains text for line 1 and line 2, currently only for greeting.
If you insert a certain type of player card, the display will change from the scrolling message to LUCKY MODE!  and the LEDs around the card reader change to Green ...  Removing the card, restores the scrolling message and changes the LEDs around the card reader to chasing.

That's as far as I got before running out of memory on the Uno.   Moving to the Mega and a redesign of the board, can move forward again.

I have 5 boards to make, looking for a few beta testers.  I will supply everything but ask for them to be returned as revisions come up and you will have to pay for shipping back.    Still need to acquire a few parts to make complete kits so shipping may be in a week.

Future plans will be to add SAS protocol, Wifi connectivity (offloaded to esp8266) and a  back-end database of some sort, eventually more beyond that.
Also other player tracking shields will be available when I get to them,  Acres Gaming (still trying to get a BE2 for testing) and Sentinel.

Picture of shield attached.

Video is here - https://youtu.be/_eaH88Z9Y7M

Note, the video shows the shield running on an Uno, the short message shown is all there was memory for.  The Mega you can max the message out to 237 characters  I think it is.
