Title: Over coming Qcom on QLD MVP.
Post by: BlackSwan on February 05, 2020, 03:33:29 AM
Got hold of a QLD MVP and of course it's QCOM.Would like to get it running.
I have a technical background so any technical info would be appreciated in over coming it.I've tried QCOMconfigtool and manged to get it from getting to step 6 up to step 70 then I get comms terminated. I've been told it may not work on QLD games.

I am not familiar with QCOMconfigtool, but as I understand it from a couple of you tube video's, its designed to get New Zealand based games going.

The way the New Zealand machines work, is that you use a tool to configure the machine, then once configured they will run standalone like a NSW game. In other jurisdictions, the machine needs to be set up via a host, then it needs to be polled continuously after that. If the machine is not polled in a certain time frame (I think 5 seconds) then it locks up with a comms timeout which is shown on the screen as "Play Disabled TD".

Not sure about the 5 seconds between polls. Watching the polling on an enabled game it's close to about 1 second.
The EGM then talks to a local PC (site controller) which itself needs to communicate to a central PC. If no comms between the two PCs within 72 hours the site controller shuts down.

The EGM only cares that its being polled. The logic between the computer that is polling it and any other system is purely a regulator/business requirement.

The protocol specifies it here https://www.publications.qld.gov.au/dataset/bec7fb3a-5b45-411d-9c1b-6c82a009ca3e/resource/641daaea-0623-4b4a-a472-99f4ae812922/download/qcom-protocol-v167.pdf (https://www.publications.qld.gov.au/dataset/bec7fb3a-5b45-411d-9c1b-6c82a009ca3e/resource/641daaea-0623-4b4a-a472-99f4ae812922/download/qcom-protocol-v167.pdf)

6.1.2 Communication Time-Out
If an EGM does not receive a poll with a valid CRC to its poll address for more than 10 consecutive
seconds the machine shall automatically disable.CP:122 The Communications Timeout Event may be
logged (see 7.10.3).
