Everything has been resolved 100%.

I spoke to soon. Every now and then a random 41 or 43 pop up. Reset it and it plays for awhile. So, instead of happening all of the time, its not happening, just every now and then. .

Are you leaning a leg/pressing a foot against the door when the error pops up?
It sounds like the door optics are out of alignment as the reels spin... that's the likeliest way of setting off that error code.
Since you're now running the game with a different MPU, it doesn't sound like the errors are MPU related.

Sooo...what can you do to narrow down the cause of the random reel errors?

1). Align the door optics with masking tape & a marker.
2). Change/swap out the reel harness.
3). Clean the reel harness pins and motherboard header where the reel harness plugs into.
4). Make sure there's at least a 3/16th gap/separation between any reel glass display and the reel strip baskets.
5). Since there's random errors not specific to any one reel, clean the reel optics on all three reels...make sure there's no dust accumulating on any of the reel optics.
6). Check the reels and optic tabs for any warping / looseness...the reel optic tabs shouldn't physically be touching the optics as the baskets turn.
What I do is pull out the reels from the cabinet, remove the strips from the reels, and turn the reel baskets by hand slowly, watching the reel optic tabs go through and between the optics.
You may see a little wobble but they shouldn't come into contact with the black reel optic plastic enclosures.
The optics are secured into the bottom of the molded reel units with a single screw.
Make sure they're tight - not stripped or loose.

Here is the video I figured out that the second reel plug will create an 41, 42, code when I wiggle it. The other two are fine.

I checked out the door, lifting up, wiggling it, and nothing happens.
Using my override door optics, it gives me the opportunity to diagnose the machine.

So here is the #2 plug. I will clean it up and go from here.

It's important to check out everything, looking for issues, sometimes tiny ones you may not see if you are not looking for them. Look at the arrow pointing to the black wire pin, it came out of the back socket.
Replacing the MPU resolved all of the problems with the handle release, and other issues. I really couldn't figure out the issues with the reels 41, 42, 43, code until I resolved the other issues first.
The way the slot machine is programmed is perfect, nudge, double diamond, cherry payout, it's great.

I had to move the slot machine to accommodate the chair. I have collected books on this machine, as you can see it is a lot of research. The three LED lights needed to be adjusted for brightness.

Yep...a bad pin in the harness making for a flaky electrical contact would cause errors.
I wonder how the pin got pushed out of the housing?
There's supposed to be two metal "legs" keeping that male pin from going backwards...lol

I removed the all of harnesses from the cabinet when restoring the slot machine. I clean the plugs on each one, this could have been loose from the beginning. I work with the Molex connectors all the time. It's really important to clean every plug when the slot machine has been exposed to damp conditions. I am pretty good at diagnostic problems. The MPU is clearly out of my realm of experience, the old one was toast.
This slot machine was dismantled down to the last screw. Restored to this condition.

Sourced the bell and the wiring harness, I installed the part into the slot machine.

It's complete for a early S+.  for your help, everyone for your help in restoring this IGT.
