Total new guy needs some help with Sigma machine
« on: September 06, 2021, 10:53:44 AM »
Hey everyone, thank you for keeping a forum going.

Hope someone can help me out. Just picked up my 1st slot machineand its doa. It's a sigma w4213. I think, from a little lurking, I have at least 2 dead power supplies, 3rd is questionable. I'm getting 20vdc on both wires of all 3 boards behind the reels. Doesn't seem right to me. When power switch inside the unit is on inget 1 fluorescent bulb to flicker, but nothing else. Can anyone help or did I just buy an expensive paper weight?

Since sigma went out of business, casinos dumped their machines years ago, so parts are kind of hard to get a hold off now.  If you have a power issue, I would remove the power supply and look for caps that are bulging and replace those to see if the machines come back to life.  That is the easiest step 1 that costs the least.  The next step is to obtain a known working power supply and use it to test all your cabinets.  After that you move to the mpu's then reels.  Your issue is that sourcing these parts might be difficult, sometimes you get lucky and find someone who has a boatload of these machines stored away and you can get parts that way.  Sorry I can't be of much other help, but it should at least get you a starting point.

2 of the power units have lost their smoke. Big burn marks. I found a jameco single unit that will do the 5,12, and 24vdc my concern I I'm finding 20vdc on all 3 boards at the terminals. Would the all in one board work? Where would I look to find the 20vdc I have now? I'm thinking something is shorted and back feeding through ground.

Pictures of machine would be of great help. Boards and the reel connector you are getting to 20VDC on 2 pins.

I am a little familiar with the sigma video poker machines. I think Badbaud knows these well. :Scratch-Head:
I don't think 20 VDC is the right voltage, but at the moment I don't have enough information to understand what you are looking at or measuring.
I will assume you got the voltages off the original supply to know the Jameco would be good replacement?

Anyway, recapping the supplies could bring them back.  If the drivers are toast, then more work.  The jameco ones should be reasonably priced so best to do that. Be sure the pinouts are the same. Or adapt properly.

I circled the areas where I have 20vdc. 120vac is good to all 4. Is the transformer looking thing converting from or to and is it supposed to put out ac or dc? Sorry, the more I get into it the more questions I have. Thanks again for lending a hand

Not quite sure how to respond to this.

I will PM you and we can chat on the phone.

I believe the 3 boards in your picture are the 3 power supplies you said 2 were toast. The 3rd questionable.

The transformer is AC to AC.

Tony

Badbaud may be the one you need to contact. I'm sure he will see this post soon and probably chime in. Thanks Badbaud.

Not sure what W4213 is? By the looks of the power supplies it would be a Poker Machine. Pictures of the machine would help a lot.

Between badbaud, Tony, and my dumbluck it's up and running correctly. 2 minor issues to sort, light in the start button and the comparitor wants to reject everything (bypassed for now)

Here's a post about this type of machine from the archives since the owner cannot post a pic of it...>>>

I know that the older Sigma Poker machines I2220 had two Power Supplies. 1was a 5volt and 1 was a 12volt. On my SG-112B it has 1 Power Supply and it has both the 5volt and 12 volt. Don't know about the UV-1700 and what Power  Supply it uses.

take a picture of your cc-16, and the board that is behind the cover.  did you adjust the sens. pot all the way ccw?
  is the LED coming on?

the three power supplies pictured appear not to have any 120 vac hooked up to them?

you can check all the bulbs in the switches using the test mode.

« Reply #13 on: April 22, 2022, 06:00:07 PM »
Just bought a Sigma Double Cherries, 2-coin, slot machine. Works like a champ but the payouts are few and far between. How do I change the payout percentage? Simple machine, no internal buttons and only adjustable thing on the board is a 10-pin dip switch. Model W4213, Model Name: MECH 3 Reel-WD. Machine is 46" base to top of front face.
