Title: Help with Jammed Mills Vest Pocket
Post by: rjpohl on December 28, 2020, 10:06:59 AM
I'm trying to repair a Mills Vest Pocket slot.  The coin slide appears to be stuck in the middle.  I have no idea where to start and want to be sure not to do more damage to it.
Please let me know where to start, the guy said it was working great until his grandson got it stuck.
thanks
Bob

At the top left side of the coin slide, you'll see a notched area with a small "gear" meshed (or not) in it.
Can you shoot and post a close-up shot of that? You also might see and be able to figure this out. It's a ratcheting mechanism basically.
Whatever you do, (well you know this) don't force those coin slides. The housing is pot metal and very brittle. The slide itself is indescribable. They are easily jammed if you try to play too quickly or too forcefully.

Sorry for not posting earlier.I did get it working, I found one lever that was frozen in place that I removed, cleaned and lubed.  I also found a piece that had jumped out of place that I had to correct.  It moved when the coin slide was pushed all the way in.  Sorry I don't know the right names of the parts.

Good to hear!!  :applause:
Once you start working on these little buggers, they're not too bad. Well other than that damn coin slide.
