Title: S2000 clear and key chip
Post by: Catalinafan on April 23, 2016, 01:04:23 PM
Hi all newb here and first post so forgive me if I'm in the wrong place
What my question is ......  I have a igt s2000 mucho dinero slot and I'm very confused about clear/key chips
What I'm trying to do is enable progressive with a cham2 display and a mikohn stand alone controller. I have already tested and programmed messages and jp amount using psp2.0 successfully thanks to the enormous wealth of knowledge found here  Here's the fly in the soup everything seems to be working as planned except I can't get a signal to add to jp amount (I can by shorting pins 4/5)  when I go to 7.3 progressive I get controller select (7.3.2)  goes to 7.3.1.1 game 1 -7.3.1.1.1  25 cents with message game 1: denim 25 cents: level 1 none : disabled ($0.00).    7.3.2 progressive display set up saying none. 7.3.3 stand alone setup and the button clicks but makes no changes.    So what do I need to correct this clear chip? Key chip? Not needing to change denom just get the progressive activated.
Mpu info....
Version chip vso11gx1 (1-1001)
Stepper game 1. Sg000523 (2-080) 1of 2
Stepper game 2. Sg000523 (2-080) 2of 2
Stepper base. Sb100269 (1-04002)
Thanks in advance any help would be appreciated. Like I said not sure if I need a clear or key chip or both and what number chip if that's what I need
Thank you

You are in the correct place.
You just need a key chip to change that setting.
But you might as well get both clear and key.
Since I do not know the board type I suggest a clear 224 and a key 45. These chips will work on both 500 series and enhanced board sets.

 :NLG_WELCOME:

When you get the key chip post back for more help if needed.

That's a 500 series board. I would still get the clear 224 and key 45 but a clear 97 key 17 will work for your board set.
You should probably also remove that green Varta battery and clean the area with a mild vinegar solution followed by clear water on a qtip. The green battery is not needed for home use and they leak alkali and ruin the traces on the board. Look in the S2000 topic for more on this. From your picture you can already see green corrosion on the legs of the diodes near the battery so damage has already started to occur.

What a great site and great people here.
Thank all for info and I will get the chips and I agree I need to change the battery. A great reason to have clear chip

No nothing should change just be careful so you don't damage any traces on the board when you remove it.

Does Mucho Dinero have a dedicated Sound Simm?  I figure with a name like that, I can hear some sort of Latin music during the spins?

When you say:
(I can't get a signal to add to jp amount (I can by shorting pins 4/5)
meaning jackpot amount to increment on the display.

Make sure the following is set correct:

ChamII board using switch and 2 padded push buttons
JP GRP set to SA

PSP under jackpot programming
F3 SINGL
F4 M-08
F8 MS08
Increment level to your liking

S2000 Menu
7.3 Progressive
7.3.1 Controller Select
7.3.1.1 Game 1
7.3.1.2 25c
Game 1: Demon 25c : Level 1
Stand Alone: Disabled
None: Disabled
SAS: Disabled
Link: Level 1 (I think this is the setting you missed)

Only other thing it could be is the connection between
Mikohn J7 to the S2000

Then when you get that fixed you might want to get
the sound sim for that game as it has some cool sounds.

Good Luck.Tim

Correct if I short or intermittently connect a jumper to pin 4and5 on j15(backplane) or on j7 (controller) I can get the jackpot increments to rise. That's to say the cable from j15 to j7 is working and the jackpot increases
I'm unclear about the settings
Psp menu=address
Jp group set to sa
I am not seeing those on psp
The rest I'll do my best to explain    Psp under jp programming.settings all good
On s2000 I can see
7.3 progressive
7.3.1 controller select
7.3.1.1 game 1
Do not see display 7.3.1.2 25c
7.3.3 stand alone  I click on spin and nothing changes
Says progressive group =0  with no available options
I cannot find.   Link- level 1 disabled
And when I see 7.3.3 stand alone   Click spin no changes
7.3.2 progressive display setup  click spin message says none with no other options

Hope this may clarify things a little better

You need to key the machine before you can change anything on the 7.?.? section. Option to change will become available after keying.

Sorry I made a typo on psp menu=address Jp group set to SA
I was referring to ChamII board setting using the switch and padded push buttons
as to setting it to SA.(corrected that in my original post)
7.3.2 should be none
7.3.3 stand alone   Click spin no changes-is correct

So re-key the machine(no credits on machine) and try again
no big deal and welcome to the progressive world.

Ok no problem. I do have setting on sa
Other question    Will Keychip 0045 carry programming for bill validator as my machine is coinless only. And where would be the recommended source for chip or files as I have a gq-4x programmer to create EPROMs

Again a big thank you to all
I have removed green battery and cleaned board thanks for the info about not needing

If Mucho Dinero has a sound Simm, what's the Simm boards number? I would like to locate one for my machine...

No special sound simm for this game.  A generic 42 would work.

It's a piggy back MMII board and it mounts right on top of the MPU to those 2 long white connectors.. Here's one at Rudys

The game is a clone of Tabasco
you could always throw in a Tabasco SB chip with a DSV00022
Never tried DSV00022 with Muchco Dienro SB though.
Heck it's better than a 42sim anyway.

That would be cool, run the tobasco SB and sound simm.

Reminds me of my Double diamond haywire.  It's running a Wild Thing Cowgirl SB and related sound simm card.  Very cool.

Update.  Success!  I now have a working progressive display by using key45 and following the immense knowledge I've been fortunate enough to find here
Thank you everyone   There's no way I could have done this on my own

Hi all again. I would like to know if I can change amount of time jp total is displayed
I see jp for about 6 seconds then message. I would like it to stay on around 20-30 seconds. I've tried the speed command in psp and tinkered with a few more settings with no luck
If I set speed to 1 (in psp) it stays on for about 1 second go all the way to 9 and most it will stay is 6-7 seconds
Thanks in advance

Very nice
Now all you need to do is get a few more machines and link the progressive together. :stirthepot:

Just gotta add a new addition for more room lol   Really would like to get the timing right on display but I'm very happy I made it this far

What I have done to lengthen the display of the jackpot value is to repeat the command 3 or 4 times in a row. I have tried the timing thing like you have and had no success. Repeat the jackpot command a number of times until you get a duration that you like.
