Title: S5500 - 54 error code
Post by: GOS on October 23, 2017, 08:40:34 AM
could not find my original post - had a dead battery issue - ended up Klar had to replace ICs that had battery attached.  Once I got the cpu back - more issues arose - at this point i have a 54 error which I cannot clear.
This game does NOT HAVE A BV - all hardware removed.  This game was working at one time with the current configuration of door switch
The door switch is a cherry E78 - and it tests okay
Wiring going to the switch  2 black wires from backplane J7 27   to pos 1 on cherry
                                        1 orange/yellow    backplane j7/31   to pos 3 on cherry
                                        1 orange/black      backplane j7/3     to pos 5 on cherry
the bv door - no switch present - the wire harnesses are there
confused as to what needs to be jumped to indicate bill door closed (54 error)

Ok I am not a big 5500 person , but are there dip switches on the mpu that must be set for no dbv? If it's like a bally 6000 ,you must set the switches to say no dbv and then do a complete  clear. Hope this helps. Scott

sometimes the obvious is the way to go - YES - DIP Switch was the answer - somehow when board being repaired?  who knows how or why - turned on swx3 pos 5 and 6 (NO BV)  - did saferam clear - GAME came up - no more 54 - game played.
