Title: Information
Post by: Timmay on April 09, 2020, 07:56:08 AM
Hi to all from Madison  heights Michigan. So I picked up this machine and  I'm looking for any information about machine and cleaning advice. It appears to be from a Carnival cruise ship. Thanks Tim

Welcome.
It appears to be a Bally E series. Does it work?
I clean my machines with regular old window cleaner for the outsides. For inside I just wipe them down with a damp cloth. If there's cigarette smoke stains inside of the cabinet I use window cleaner as well.
Carnival Cruise??  :hissyfit: Well I'm sure it's been out of a ship for quite some time now!

Thank you Shorttrack. Working? Yes and no. She lites up accepted and registered some coins but that's it. There's rust and pitting on the outside. Person had it in his garage for some time. I found a guy locally that will repair it, just wanted to clean it up first.

If someone could point me in the right direction for taking the face chrome piece off that would be great. I need to polish it up.

Timmay,

If you are looking to remove the reel glass.  There is a series of screws.  Originally it was six.  But, two of those probably got tossed because of their location.

I have attached a couple of photos to help you.  The first one shows a black screw with an arrow pointing to it.  You will find two of these in the upper corners.

The second photo shows the lower screw.  There should one on either side of the coin mech.  Now, there is possibly two more of these. One right next to the lock mech and the other behind the harness at the door hinge.  These are the two screw that normally do not get re-installed due to the location.

When you remove these screws be very careful not to drop your reel glass.

Thank you 63mini. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Any information on removing the bottom glass? Thank you  again Tim

Timmay,

The belly glass may have two screws. One on the left and right side.   See attached photo showing the left one.  The right one may be MIA due to it's location behind the harness on the door.

The glass and frame should swing/fall forward and the frame lifts up and off.  Once again.  Do not drop your glass.

You might have a second screw holding the belly glass assembly to the door. That screw will be to the far right behind the white door plug harness wires.. Then to remove the chrome frame from around the glass, you will find 2 small Phillips screws on the bottom, in each corner. Remove them, then you can remove the top 3 sides of the chrome glass frame. Then you can lift the glass out.. I hope your not taking it to Mitch's slots off of Mound Road..

Thank you for the information. Not aware of Mitch's but it sounds like I will never use him. Lol. This guy is in Marine City.

Hello Amechanic.  Imagine that crossing paths on this forum. Anyway now you can see what you have to work with I plan on contacting you once I clean it up a little. Any information on cleaning it up much appreciated.
Never heard of Mitch's before. I've been into Big Toys before for pinball lights. Same guy?

No.. Mitch works from his home over off of 18 1/2 mile and Mound. Nice guy, but I do his older Bally repairs. I’m sure he makes up my repair cost by 10-25% to cover his handling cost.

Has anyone on this site used Mitch for repairs Amechanic was referring to? Phone number for Mitch or a referral in Michigan? I have tried to reach Amechanic without success. Thanks Tim

I’m still here. I don’t think Mitch is doing much either with the Covid-19 virus still keeping us locked down here in Michigan. I have been trying to finally get a couple of my own projects finished. You tried texting me today when I was driving to my credit union. I’m still not accepting any repairs. Maybe within the next 2-4 weeks.

Thanks. I was getting worried that you may not be feeling good or not interested. I would like to use you. Just give me a shout whenever you are able to do repairs. Stay safe Tim
