Title: ‘Nother Newbie S+ Question….?
Post by: 850mph on October 13, 2023, 08:40:45 AM
This may be so obvious it hurts…. But hey my dad always said “don’t be afraid to ask questions even if they make you look stupid”…..

Can I turn a 2-coin multiplier S+ machine into a 3-coin multiplier machine simply by upgrading the GAME and REEL chips?

Obviously I would need to change the game graphics, and use the “standard” reel glass.

But are there any other mechanical options which prevent conversion…?

Reel strips?

Am I missing something GLARINGLY OBVIOUS HERE?

How about turning a single Payline machine into a three Payline machine with proper chip set….

Again with new graphics and Reel glass and strips?

2CM to 3CM is just the reel PROM, award glass, and reel glass/button legends.

Single line to multi is the same plus you'll need new reel glass and reel strips.

The reason I ask…

These early game graphics would be RELATIVELY EASY to duplicate (WITHOUT scanning) in adobe illustrator, and print out on clear acrylic on a large format, commercial high-res printer …. Generally inexpensively.

I know the Internet pinball database archives/databases reproducible translites, cabinet and game graphics….

Is there a database of reproducible art for Slots?

Just ask’in.. thnx.

Not that I'm aware of.  IGT AFAIK still owns the copyright for all their artwork and they have enforced it in the past.

At the risk of becoming persona no grata….
I’m sure the software on the SP and SS chips was/is copyrighted……
But that does not seem to matter very much.

Not a lawyer and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn express last night either.

It is, and that's why you won't find any software files on this forum and asking for a copy of a .bin file is not allowed.

It's a touchy subject here.  I'd let it be.

My inquiry was innocent, but I hear where you are coming from.

‘Nuff said.
