This is my first 1270 board machine, The 2nd reel is always lit up and I’m Not noticing the other ones lighting up when I think they should be. This machine has been worked on by someone with a big hammer!!! Lots of repairs to get it running. I did swap reel with #3 and it stayed lit in pos #3. Bad reel? When I replaced the coin battery, the Varta showed 0 volts. I haven’t taken it out yet though.

You probably have a bad bulb in one one or more reels.

I would be checking all the lamps, the wiring to and from the backlight controller/driver board.
Plugging re-plugging reel driver harnesses...shooting some De-Oxit spray into old 20+ year pin housings.
Swap with another known working backlight reel driver board to see if there's any changes...make notes.
You'll pinpoint the problem...remember, take your time, this is a hobby not a job.

Another Fantastic piece of advice. I Only saw 1 emblem lit up, Come to find out the other 14 bulbs were dead. So nice now, used LED’S that many have suggested. Thanks Again and everyone Enjoy Your holiday season.
