Title: Replacing software on an original wms board
Post by: Takealiltrip on February 14, 2015, 02:42:54 PM
I'm at odds with my partner over this matter. What good is it going to do them to change the software on an original wms board? The master aren't upside down and the actual percentage is only a couple higher or lower than what it's set at.  Please give me your thoughts or the pros and cons off changing the software

We need more information, as we don't know the end goal is, or even really what the question is?  :Scratch-Head:

It sounds like your in a casino setting and are not pleased with your return. Naturally, if you change the pay %, statistically the numbers will change, but you will not see it on the meters instantly! The pay % are based on millions of plays. Depending on your patrons, this could be several days, or even weeks, before you see changes in the meters.

Also depends on game theme.
Some games have a very high volatility rate and in the short run you can find yourself in the negative.
For this reason casinos have many machines to help smooth out the highs and lows of a single machines volatility. Same reason insurance companies have many policies and clients from many states.

heres the question,

if you have a wms original board with life of lux software and you think the machine is paying out to often is it going to do any good to change the software chips ?

my understanding is that the new software targets the printer and security issues

next question,

if you have original boards and you think the machine is paying out to often will it do any good to change the software? still life of lux

my understanding is that it is a flaw with the board in the mathematics that makes this machine pay too often

I don't have any experience with "non-original" boards....are you meaning the boards are NOT made by WMS? Or are you saying that is not the original board that came in the machine?

On the wms legacy boards (eprom based), all version of the game have the same payout percentages.  There is no way there's a mathematical error on those as it would not pass any jurisdiction.  That being said, all versions have multiple paytables that you can choose, if you have the key chip that enables that to be changed.  I believe all games default to 92% payback, and you can go as low as 85% I believe.  This is the chip on e-bay.  They are SUPER rare to find and the reason why they are expensive, they cannot be duplicated as far as I know.

I have the percentage chip but life of Lux will not go below 89% look at the second picture of the ad you posted it shows 89%. Although this is not the first time I have heard about the unseen "85"% chip

Ive also heard about the 85% before but never paid much attention since I'm a homeowner.  The chip currently on bay is being sold by Jim at Blueridge.  Shoot him a PM on here or give him a call.  He's a great guy and maybe he has what you're looking for.
