Title: Removing 5500 cash box
Post by: gposing on June 29, 2014, 08:47:39 AM
I'm embarrassed to ask this question, but how do you get the cash box out of the machine?  Is there a button to release the box from the side panel or do you need a special tool?

I use two thin pieces of card board and slide them on each end of the cash can.
Then you just pull the can out.

You could at least make it sound like a semi-skilled job -  like, maybe I need "special" card board :propeller:   Thanks for the tip!

Two  credit cards work pretty damn good.

If you would like there is a way to not use a cash box in a 5550. I'm not going to go into details unless your interested.  Well one easy way is you can see a micro switch in the bottom of the chassis where the cash can goes,  tape that switch down and throw the can away.  (There is a better way than tape but harder to do )

There is a way to eliminate the need for a cash box all together.

This way the cash just drops into the hole where the cash box used to sit.

There are two switches relating to bill security.

The first is above the cash box hole and detects that the door is locked. When the key tab slips into its slot it actuates a switch.

The second is below the opening and detects when the cash box is seated properly into the hole.

See the attached PDF. Find the switches and their related wire colors and cut and jumper as shown.

In the attachment it shows the bottom switch with red, blue and orange wires and to connect orange and red wires together.  My machine has red, blue and green wires and no orange wire.  So what wires should I connect together?
