Title: Aristocrat WS
Post by: Delma on June 20, 2022, 10:37:20 AM
Having an issue with one of my Aristocrat WS machines. Running MK7 Cpu. For some reason at the end of everyday I have a blacked out screen. If I try to cycle the machine it will just keep repeating the boot cycle again and again. However, if I let it sit over night and then turn it back on in the morning it'll work fine for about a full day then repeat the same issue.

I don't know enough about these original unconverted cabinets to make any type of "accurate assumption" but if I had to guess I'd think video card? Could there also maybe be a fan not working seeing as how if I let it sit then try it works fine for a day then maybe gets too hot? I'm not sure what to guess on this one.  :Scratch-Head:

Could be the fan on the video card toasting the card.  Easy to check by just opening the logic door and looking to see if the fan is spinning.  However, usually when the fan freezes both monitors are blank.  Your pic shows the top monitor no signal, but the bottom one is in boot up phase which would be correct during boot up.  So are both monitors blank when this happens?  Is the fan spinning?  Depending upon your answers, it could just be a tired video card if the fan is spinning and both are blank.

Yes the fan is spinning on the video card. Now the machine when it does boot up starts flashing in and out on the screen. I think you may be correct. Video Card. I'll search for one in classifieds. Thank you.

If you have another machine with the same video card you should borrow it and see if it fixes the problem.  That will confirm that it's the card.  Just be aware that the Viridian Gen 7 board uses 2 different video cards and the bios on the Gen 7 board has to match up with the video card. So when looking for a video card, same sure it's the same model as the faulty one.

Copy that thanks. I’ll try to get the same model GeForce 9500. Thanks for the help on this.

Whatever you get just make sure it's flashed for Aristrocrat. Don't get a GT 430, it requires a different bios.
