After getting a reel 1 tilt I looked inside the machine and saw this.
The machine hasn't had any problems up until this point, it's plugged into a surge protector, and the power is always off if I ever remove anything. What would cause something like this?
Sorry about the bad pics. I'll take them again during the day.

Are these wires cut?
-
Wire insulation does not melt like that, it bubbles and burns. That looks like something else dripped on the wires. Did you try to reset the tilt using the jackpot key with the main door open?

What in the world could have dripped on them? Nothing I've put in there. Yes, it cleared , and I did a few spins and it didn't tilt again.
@Stayouttadabunker
I guess the wire was cut? It certainly wasn't me.
Thanks.

Does your machine have backlit reels?
Could there be an incorrect lamp overheating?

No, it doesn't have backlit reels. And so far, I can't even see a trace of that stuff above those wires. I'm going to pull all the reels out right now and see if I can find out where it came from. Strange.

clean it off, check the wires for damage, if you can't find the source, consider that it may have been something that wasn't meant to be in there like a candy. I have received machines with gum or starburst fruit chews in them before. It's weird what I find sometimes.
one time a machine came for service, I found a Cialis (Viagra competitor) pill in it. Owner said the handle was stiff, :) ... it was in for a battery replacement, and set up
Thanks,
Wayne

There are orange wires going to the bell at 25VDC in that area?
Orange is 25VDC and the yellow one is a pulsed bell data wire.
A 2-pin connector to a red and black bell harness.
If not....it's probably Halloween candy....lol

This is just a shot in the dark, but i recall seeing a similar goo dripping from a handle mechanism, possibly the result. of a rubber part breaking down.Let me know what you find, good luck, the wizard.

LMAO! That's hilarious
I pulled the reels out and looked all over and I don't see a trace of it coming from anywhere else. I'll try to clean it and see how everything looks after.
@Stayouttadabunker
No bell or harness. Damn, I think this is now the worst halloween candy I've ever gotten.
@Pinballwizard55
Thanks. Yeah, I've found nothing anywhere else yet.
Thank you Stayouttadabunker, qbert, a69mopar, and Pinballwizard55 for your help. Very much appreciated!

Pinballwizard55 is correct. It's handle goo! Here's a shot of my goo... same color, same consistency.
