Title: Trouble key chipping R board
Post by: MazzMayhem on March 17, 2023, 08:21:01 AM
Hello All, I recently acquired a S2000 Barcrest “Red Hottie” machine. Game runs just fine but it uses a R board attached to the 1270 enhanced board . I went and ordered a clear and key chip RBK00001 RBK00002 . I know that the clear and key are both on the one chip but I don’t know what is the difference between these two chips.
Here is how I have run the key procedure so far
Turn off machine remove mpu remove boot chip replace with RBK00001 turn on machine press service but until It shows key then go to enable Key then spin reel to enable turn off machine replace key chip with boot chip power up initialize reels spin then I get the message key enable failure.
Now I have also tried same procedure except before I attempt to enable key I clear ram spin reels ram cleared then enable key and what I get then after I replace boot chip with key chip and power it up is the alarm going off like it should pressing test button closing main door machine initialized reels spin then I get enable keychip failure.

RBK00002 is for WAP machines. Do you have zero credits? Another thing I noticed is the presence of RB000003 on your R board. I don't know if it makes a difference but R boards should have RB000001. RG boards use R0000003.

Thanks RB yes I was wondering about the RB00003 boot chip. There are no credits on the machine. Perhaps I should just order the RB00001? The machine is playing just fine the reason I wanted to keychip it is the Tito@home that came with the machine needs a setting changed in order to work. It appears that someone successfully keychipped it in the past to get the machine up and running like it is.

RB I just checked my parts department/ stash box and I have a spare R board but that also has a RB00003 boot chip
