1990 Players Edge frozen...
« on: December 17, 2022, 11:56:41 AM »
So I was asked by a friend to look at a machine, it is a 1990 PE, and seems frozen...  it has been a long time since I worked on these....

so it has no reaction to turning the key, pressing buttons...
I tried to short the battery to see if that would clear anything. fail...
tested the battery and it is 3.6v
It powers up and seems to show signs of a boot with the screen stuck on " CALL ATTENDANT "  I close the door and naada...
coin in time out is also displayed and I tried the door... nothing...
the wires seem fine, nothing seems abused...
it has a " closure restart warning on the lower left.
closing the door seems to do nothing.

Bad Mobo?... it has just sat for years in the corner of a living room

I have press and held the small white Self Test button for at least five seconds and heard nothing...
I have Close and fully latch the door. and nothing... still says it is open
I have Turn the jackpot reset key once.  nothing...

but it boots...  when it first boots the CALL ATTENDANT is not there then appears meaning the board is doing something

Do I need to get a CLR chip?

If I recall the board is on the back of the case. Does the board on this machine have a little white button peeking up? I might be confusing this with an S 3-reel. But I would look for a reset button, I did find a post about this in 2012 or so and the user was advised to press the reset button. I have one of these games but its buried deep in storage. Maybe do a google search, that way you will get results from the NLG archive site.

I have googled and have already pressed the white button as noted in the post.
