Door optics troubleshooting help
« on: February 02, 2023, 03:24:42 PM »
Hello all,

Well onto my next set of issues....

Machine new to me and hasn't worked with me....Boards, chips etc ok...

In trying to clear the 3100 error i noticed that it was not recognizing door being closed as display was not going blank for a moment and showing code again. Ran optics test and no fluctuation between 0 and 1 on 13 setting. Changed out optics with known good set, and not change. Old set even tried in other machine and working fine. Did a clear chip just in case that would help, but no change.

Is there anything else to try, besides wiring issues to try to track down?

1). Try lining up the door optics with some masking tape and a marker.
2). Utilizing Test 13, eyeball with digital video camera for blue-ish light emitting.
3). For the cabinet receiver optic, shine a flashlight on the phototransistor diode.
4). Check ground wire on bill vaildator door.
5). Replace MPU.
6). Replace motherboard.
7). Check harnesses with a multimeter for continuity.

Ran into this issue myself realized it was the door side optic wire was barely hanging on from the old zip tie being so brittle it broke and the wire was dangling where the door would close and pulled it off the sensor.

Looked like it was wired ok until i took off both sides of the optic and it just fell apart. Check both sides.

Lining up is usually not the issue if its off by a hair its fine.

yep...the bill validator door is the 4th thing on the list to check.
The wires on that side of the cabinet all use the same green ground line.
Glad you found the problem.
Throw that Clear chip in Lake Michigan...lol
