I'm stumped
« on: June 17, 2020, 01:52:42 PM »
Recently I purchased a CEI video poker machine with a low battery warning. It always started right up and would bring up a menu screen that said low battery. Last night I pulled the board out and installed a new battery and also noticed a deep scratch that completely separated one of the traces. I installed a jumper wire to bypass on each end of that trace to give it continuity. when I installed the board back in it doesn't seem to want to power up now. The monitor lights up slightly when first turning the power on and then goes dark there is no sound or alarms about a low battery. When you turn the power off you get a quick flash like you would expect when turning it off. It seems like the monitor is working and it's almost as if the board isn't plugged into the machine or something. Does anybody have any ideas or recommendations? (it has a 906 III board)

Unrepair the traces one at a time till it works again, then reconnect the traces one at a time to see which one is the problem. When working on boards like that you only want to make repairs one at a time. Then you know what caused the issue.

Thank you very much! I cut the jumper off the trace that I fixed and it booted right up. Now the problem I have is the battery went dead in one day. I'm determined to get to the bottom of that issue also.
