Title: S Plus turned into a change machine
Post by: t28c34 on April 14, 2024, 09:42:38 PM
I had a S Plus that worked very well including the bill validator. I sold the machine to a friend and moved it to his house and helped him get it up and running. The machine had no credits left on it so we put a dollar bill in, and you can hear the hopper trying to pay out 4 quarters. So, he got a hand full of quarters to put in the hopper, tried the dollar bill again and it went straight to paying out 4 quarters. The machine has no problem accepting quarters and spinning and paying out or saving as credits. but you put in a bill, and it is a change machine. What happened on the ride over to his house?

Nothing.  Hit the cash/credit button then the bills will go to credit instead of coins to the hopper.

Hotlsot, your talking turning the reset key to the corresponding and checking the number it set at?

Not sure what to tell you then.  Nothing else would get changed by simply moving the machine from one location to another.

Yea Tilt, it's weird. I remembered I pulled the mpu to check the battery to make sure it was in good shape before I loaded it. Could I have did something doing that? I have been trying to remember how to go through self-test settings with one of my other S pluses, to see if the settings are the same on the other machine, but I forgot because of jumping back and forth between Bally and IGT. It's been a while since I've worked on a IGT

Bill Acceptor
Pay Mode <0> [8]   This option can be changed only if DIP switch 4 is off.
Changes to this option are ignored when the credit type is noncredit.  The options are pay coins from the hopper {2},
convert bills to credits {1}, or follow the player-initiated credit {0}.  If set to follow the player-initiated credit,
bills are converted to credits if the player has selected the credit mode, or paid from the hopper if the player has
selected the noncredit mode.

Neither of these work?

:agreepost:  I've had it happen to me before.  Make sure dip #4 is turned OFF. It can turn your BV into a change machine. Set 1-3 ON, 4-8 OFF.

Thanks guys, I’ll check that. Maybe I hit it when I pulled the board to check the battery.

Did the wire fall off the cash/credit button or perhaps the ground wire broke....

Yes , check the machine settings with the test button on the inside. Push until you get to the 5 menu, that should be 5-2. then turn  the jackpot key to make sure the next few settings are 6-1, 7-1, 8-1 and 9-1.
