Title: Upgrade to DBV-200 ? Is it worth doing?
Post by: ZZPOPZ on September 05, 2022, 09:45:03 AM
I have 2 IGT S-plus  Double diamond slot machines with working DBV-45 and DBV-145 bill validators. The power supplies are vented black boxes so I believe they would work with the DBV-200.
The 145 has a sticker saying ID -023 V3.01-9
I would like to be able to use newer bills but from what I've read here even the 200 won't read new bills , but will they read bills newer than the -45 and -145 validators?
What year bills work with each model validator?

Thanks

You would be better off upgrading to a WBA-12/13.  Most DVB-200s are worn out.  You will need a silver power supply for the WBA-12/13.

The updated software for the DBV200 will allow the unit to take the new $20 and the old $100.

A WBA is the best upgrade but you will need a wider metal cavity and a WBA cash can to get everything to work.

The DBV200 will allow 4 way bill acceptance and all new bills except the latest $100.
As pointed out the 200’s are not made any more so you will want to get one from a reputable seller who has cleaned, replaced the belts and calibrated.

The WBA series are a lot more commonly available and a bit more $ but you can expect a longer physical life.
Unlike the DBV series you need to replace the whole transport not just the head. This may entail taking a file to your bill opening in the door to make it fit. It depends on when the machine was manufactured. Not a huge job to do but still a mod.

If the “new” money changes again do not expect an update regardless of what you purchase. IGT made the decision to kill off the S+ protocol as they were losing too many overseas sales to used machines.

There is a dude on here that was selling protocol converters.
This allows you to use a S2000 bill validator that accepts all new bills on a S+ or PE+
This way you can be assured of upgrades for many years to come.
This is the way I would go if I was upgrading.

Thanks to all for your information on this subject.
I think an updated to latest version DBV-200 would fit my needs just fine.
Now the searching begins.....  :thank_you:
