Title: Is it Legal?
Post by: cuda on January 02, 2018, 02:26:38 PM
Ok for those that don't know I got my hand slapped really hard here in Colorado from the CBI and the FBI for having slots, they are all gone now, but I have some glass left.

I would like to sell off the glass I have left but I don't want or need any more trouble with the law as I don't think I would do well in prison being somebody's bitch.

Does anybody know if its ok to sell glass?  I have some great hard to find pieces, Like tabasco, I dream of Jeanie, brand new Jeckel and Hyde complete set, Haywire, double diamond Haywire, and the list goes on.

I appreciate your expert opinions.

What happened? How did it go down?
Glass is always legal to sell. It's the software that will bite you in the ass

I think Colorado requires that slot machines in private ownership to be made before 1984. But I didn't think anyone cared as long as you weren't trying to run a casino in your home. Maybe someone reported what you had for some reason. Some owners convert their machines so they only use tokens, similar to arcade games, and that possibly could help if the authorities come around. I guess it depends on who the investigating official is if they are willing to go easy on it. If your machines were using real money and you had it setup so you kept any money that was lost then a disgruntled person could have called it in.

The glass itself is not a gambling device, you can treat it just like any other decorative wall art to sell.

Just for info,  The FBI or CBI or any others do not waste their time unless it's warranted.   Sounds like hogwash to me. The games he claimed to have in profile pics and others don't warrant a bust.  Fire one up dude.

Maybe advertising on Craig's List and EBAY and in the local papers is not a good idea.

That's how they gettcha.
Big sting here in Vegas years ago. Feds followed advertisement leads in local paper and shut down some shops that had not filled out the yearly federal paper work.

You hit nail on the head with that one.

I just had a couple of machines, I tried to sell them on facebook and its not legal to post them on facebook market, and apparently according the the CBI official that came to my house, once they reported it they had to follow up on it.  So they came with search warrants and 3 FBI since its a class 5 felony and 2 CBI agents and confiscated the "1 Pink Panther Slot Machine" I had.  I signed a plea agreement to not own or sell any slot machines pre 1984 or I would be guilty of a class 5 felony.

So I have nothing but some "decorative glass" now that would make some nice lighted bar signs.

I guess they didn't have anything better to do, because they came for that very reason.  They said there has been an influx of slot machines coming into Colorado and they are trying to put a stop to it, and locate the source of the machines coming in, they asked tons of questions about where I got the machines and I told them I got them off craigslist from individuals that I didn't know, only knew their first names when they dropped them off.  They also claimed they had increased the activity alot around the new Skill Casino's that have been popping up they claimed they didn't pay out but they did.  These skill casino's have been on our news alot and showing them paying out.

That whole situation seems like overreach to me, but all it takes is for the local or regional bigshot to put the word out to the enforcement agents and it happens. Especially if the bigshot has plans to run for governor or attorney general. Good way for him to get some "law & order" publicity.  I'm pretty sure there are private slot machine owners in every state, including the ones where it is prohibited. But discretion is the key when you live in a non-legal state for slot ownership.

You can sell your glass on ebay, offerup or any other online place. If you want to become a contributing NLG member you can post for-sale ads in the classifies here. I don't think you have to make a huge contribution, a one-time donation will get you access to selling for a limited time I believe.

... They said there has been an influx of slot machines coming into Colorado and they are trying to put a stop to it, and locate the source of the machines coming in, they asked tons of questions about where I got the machines.....

Probably can blame that on all the folks from California moving to Colorado and taking their sinful habits with them.   :garfield:

Thanks I agree, should have been discrete about having them and not selling them.  Oh well over now.  I have been a contributing member on here in the past and bought and sold several items, in fact several members know me directly.  I appreciate the calls from a few to see how I was once I posted this.

This happened about 6 months ago and I let things die down for a while before bringing this up.

I was thinking that they Coloradian's would no longer have a deterrent to move to California..... now that it legalized weed as well.  However slots are totally illegal in California - despite bordering on Nevada.

Canada "lights up" nationwide July 1. We have legal slot ownership, and we don't tax casino or lottery winnings. You played with after tax money, you win after tax money. Casino gets taxed on their profits.

If you had S+ machines - they started manufacturing these machines in the early 80's and you might have been able to make the case that the date of design was pre-1984 despite the production run being after 1984.....

You can find this info lots of places, this one is quick & easy to view and they keep it updated regularly as laws change. Look it over, maybe move to a slot-friendlier state?

Well, I was sorta kidding about the California influx into Colorado. But that dynamic is making some changes. The cost of housing and living costs in general in Colorado has increased the past few years, getting harder for an ordinary person to keep up there. If you are a retired California government or municipal worker (police, fireman, teacher, etc) you often have an above average retirement and can live pretty well if you move out of California.

Title: Glass is Listed
Post by: cuda on January 04, 2018, 11:40:28 PM
I decided to start by listing the glass on Ebay, I had several of you message me about the glass so you can look me up on ebay.  I will post a little more each day.

My user name on ebay is: Cudadog

I never post anything on ebay anymore so if you look at my ad and my freight looks jacked or you think I am nuts on my pricing, go ahead and let me know I won't be offended I honestly didn't know where to start or how to use the freight thing on ebay.
