Title: Bally 5500 with a DBV-145. Works without a cash box or transport !!

I was wondering if anyone has seen this before? I have a Bally 5500 with Just a DBV-145 Head. After shopping it out I noticed the Green light was on say the bill acceptor was ready. I knew it was just the Head but I wanted to see what would happen. I inserted a $20.00 bill and to my surprise it gave me 80 credits! I was wondering if anyone has seen one work with a transport before?? The money just dropped into the cash box area.

my machine is that way and i do it on my williams 40x machines

Gary,   yea you can do that,  remove the stacker that pushes the bill into the metal housing,  bypass the stacker can switches (actually short the common to the normally open contact, this way the machine thinks the can is in place)  do the same for the side door switch.
