Title: Alpha Power Progressive Double Wild Rose wont boot up call attendant
Post by: databig on August 19, 2019, 11:28:52 AM
Hello , I am still having trouble getting my machine to boot all the way up,  usually all the reels do is spin and all numbers (credits , bet etc) flash 888888888888888888888 sometime it will boot up all the way and when it does  I calibrate the reels in attendant, no pending status on screen , I can play it for awhile then the reels start to spin and red 888888888888888s flash on and off,  what would cause it to boot up randomly or start reels spinning. could my game software be corrupt, can I used a different game card for the (same game) or would it overwrite the progressive jackpots?  I have unplugged and re plugged in Reels, backplane, cables, usbs, RCU,  Thank you so much for you help and time  Mike

Another game card for the same game would not overwrite your programmed progressives. What OS & bios chip are you using? They must match up as well as the clear card.

Did you check your power supplies for bulging caps, or use an ESR meter on the the caps?  Power usually makes it act weird like that.  If it was just the reels randomly getting out of whack with the 888888 on the lcd's, then I would suspect something wrong with the USB bus.  On these machines the reel backplane acts as a hub for all usb connections, a bad usb cable somewhere could cause issues.  I would check power and then replace the usb cables to see if that fixes that issue.

I did check the power supply for bulging caps, replaced one 1000uf  10V , the caps all looked good except for the one, also changed two usb cables

When it shows 8888’s and reels spin are the lights on the mpu on? Sounds like it could be the mpu power supply.
