Title: Bally Alpha Elite S9000 flicker
Post by: dailey on February 08, 2020, 01:56:58 PM
I have an Alpha Elite S9000 Ultimate Party Spin. I've had this machine for about two years and all this time there has been this annoying occasional flicker in the 20" touch screen. The entire screen flickers and dims, but only momentarily then it comes back. It is very intermittent and will go long periods without acting up. I've searched for loose cables/connections. Have unplugged and reseated all connectors with no effect. There is never any error or any lights anywhere flickering. Just the monitor. The image is otherwise excellent. I'm hoping someone has a clue as to what might be causing this.

Flickers as in the whole screen goes dark and then bright? Or does the screen looks like it wiggles?

The whole screen dims a bit and the image wiggles.

Might need to be recapped.

When I booted up this morning there was a lot of noise/flicker on the screen and the colors were faded momentarily, then came back to normal. I then discovered I could reproduce this effect by applying a slight pressure on the VGA cable where it plugs into the MPU. The connector wasn't loose though. I powered off, unplugged the connector and inspected the pins. Everything looked good. I then reseated it and snugged the screws up firmly, booted up and the flicker was gone.  So far it looks good. It seems the problem is solved.
