Title: Screen Confetti Issues + Red Blinking Light + Key 17 Not Applying
Post by: 121940kz on February 11, 2024, 09:00:58 AM
I'm really familiar with the S2000 machines, this is the first Game King I've gotten. Physically it's in mint condition, extremely well taken care of. Coin battery reads 3.2 volts, getting confetti screen and a flashing red light every few seconds. I did some reading and it sounds like maybe one of the chips corrupted?

Can anyone else tell me more information about this, such as what version it is (4.0 etc) and if i can upgrade it to more games?

I have a key 17 and I read that people have been able to get into the key settings by applying it and the monitor would boot to that. When i try to apply the key chip it was not giving me the 2 amber lights, I can try again, but if i recall none of the lights were lighting up when i was trying to apply it.

Thanks for any assistance.

That is GK4.3, key17 is correct.  Did you install it in the correct direction?

Yes but I'll try again. All the game chips now are facing right direction and still confetti. Does the confetti mean the monitor is bad? Or is that just it not booting the software?

If the red led is blinking it is probably the software or MPU board.

So if it's the software which chips should be replaced

You can upgrade to a different GK set or an I-game.

Check your power supply output voltages at J13 on the motherboard.  Solid red wires should have +13VDC and orange should have +25VDC.  It's easier to get to with the hopper out of the way.

It was the power supply. The darn 6 ~ 8 volt output was bad... 13v and 25v was fine. Swapped with other power supply and it came up

Glad you got it fixed  :cool_thumb_up:.   I'm kind of surprised it was the SIN IN output that was bad, usually that will cause a Line Frequency Detect error.  Anyways, glad it's back up & running and thanks for posting your fix  :applause:
