Title: Bally 5500 Double Deluxe Double Card Machine
Post by: Tmmybahama on February 09, 2015, 09:45:42 PM
First off, it looks like IGT, but I know nothing about video poker machines.. yet...

And what would make a machine working fine make a screen do this:  (and how easy/expensive appx to fix; was told it was working fine, and them whammo)

Looks more like a Bally to me, but let me get a 2nd opinion (husband Darrell)...

Woohoo! Roslyn was right!  :rotfl: :rotfl:

It's a Bally all right. Most likely a V5000, the predecessor to the GameMaker. The V5000 machines only had 1 game, versus a Multi game GameMaker.

Now, what to do about that monitor? Sorry, no clue...I hate monitors (well, when they aren't working anyway).

hey thanks.... ill post this over there and see if I can find out about this screen without seeing machine... if its easy fix, im gonna buy it hopefully for much cheaper then he's asking since he obv overcharging cuz he asking 699 for an IGT S+....

Added a little karma point to ya, if approved... for how quick you got the info to me... thank your wife!  (Is this game a rarer title?  what year you think?  99? 96? I dont have clue)

Well, for the record...I AM THE WIFE, haha! My husband never posts, only I do (so all CVslots posts are from me, with input from him on the older games).

On this platform, there really weren't any "popular" or "rare" games...it was only around for a short time, and never really took off. Depending on where you are (which I'm aware of where you are), some might not say $699 is "too much" for an S+. That may be pretty close to retail (which we know, in some states, "retail" doesn't exist). Problem is, if that monitor has to be replaced, then you may be looking at a couple hundred bucks for replacement (cost + shipping + install labor). All in all, I would say it is not one of the more desirable games around...but I guess that all depends on how good of a salesman you are!  :rotfl:

You have a Bally V5500 poker machine.
The most common case for that screen is
the board needs a clear and reset.
Post a picture of the MPU board and
we can tell you which clear you need.

I have this one.

WHAT WOULD MAKE THE SCREEN DO THIS? ???  (I dont have access to the machine... I was told he was playing it, working fine, and then wham!  This screen... What could make this happen? ???  How much work would it take by me, how much in parts?)

Dont have access to the machine... I can call him and ask him some questions... He KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT EM....  What should I have him take a picture of the MPU... Now I have NEVER EVEN LOOKED IN A VID POKER MACHINE... Where is the MPU?  I have to guide a guy who knows nothing about em without seeing what he is doing....

Any help would be great... I posted in the Bally 5000 forum, fyi...

I was told it prob. just needs to be reset.  but I got to find out the board its using...  And how would I know if the monitor is about to die?  Yea, I wouldnt pay over 200 for IGT S+ as is machine, little more for mint maybe... .But, I would sell them for alot more than that... Utah is a RETAIL state when it comes to slots.... I priced my stuff like all the competitors and sold 50+ machines in less than 2 years, knowing nothing when I started, and now know alot, thanks to all of you here and am confident on any reel machine up to and including the WMS DOT MATRIX series....  But, I want to move up to the BB2's and Game Kings, and beyond... Just need to move the rest of my SIGMA's and Ill be buying anoter 50-100 machine lot I am sure soon...

Just open the main door (power off) and pull on the
2 handles (red) and the MPU board will slide out.
It will most likely need a U10 chip.
Available on Ebay.

Oh, this is as easy as a REEL machine... I think I can guide this guy to get him to take a picture and email me....

Piece of cake once you have the right clear chip.

Ok, Ill get the picture of the board, and then I guess I will need to purchase a clear chip for it, and Im sure some other little things, like lights n stuff is out.... No biggy, I know how to fix all that... Only thing that is foreign is the monitor, which I will begin to familiarize myself with as I learn about more than just REEL machines...

Ok that's a U10 clear.
I'll see if I have a extra one.
Or you can post for one in the WTB.
