I am new to this hobby (slot machine collecting). Is it just my experience or does this market tend to have a higher-than-average rate of unreliable vendors? Fortunately I can say it's none of the vendors on this site. Is it too much these days to expect people to do what they say they are going to do?

Nope, its not just you.
I was one of the founding members that had bought a couple of machines from a less than reliable reseller and was having trouble getting any response to my requests. Next I turned to the internet and found that the so called professional sites were not interested in helping the home owner. When I met Joey (our host) he quickly established this site (now on its third reincarnation).
I will point out that banner adds are not for sale. Anyone who has one has a rep for good service and helping our members.
Think of it this way - if you had purchased the perfect machine you would not have found your way here and met all these good people.

I think Jay and I may have had a go-around with the same internet vendor schmuck when I got into the hobby years ago. Luckily I got my money back, but it was a bloody battle for about 3 months. Then I met the NLG family and that's what kept me going. Too bad some of them have disappeared.
