New to board trying to identify my machine
« on: November 05, 2022, 04:50:22 AM »
Hello, I received this machine in lieu of payment for a job. I do not know which model it is I am enclosing pictures. It worked well after the battery replacement. I recently replaced the knife to correct the coins going behind the old one. After replacing the bucket it seems to have gone tilt. I power it on lights come on the MPU bill validator cycles reels spin BV cycles again but then the lights go out on the MPU reels spin again and stop at 777. It will not accept coins in they drop right into the pan. The display reads normal no buttons light up, the led displays a 10 at the top and a 2 at the bottom. Left Key reset one time brings up accounting. I don't have a key for the right barrel key reset. After the door closed no flashing on the candle. Will not play. Suggestions please?

It is a S2000. What message is on the display when powered on, door closed and latched? The barrel key is not needed. It is used to convert a hand pay to credits primarily used in the NJ jurisdiction.

The machine goes to regular messages insert coin. After closing, I reset it once the buttons light up and I'm able to push the spin button reels cycle but go back to 777 an inoperable state. With all button lights off. I haven't tried the white button below the coin comparator. Another observation was when I powered the machine up with the door open. There is a red flashing lamp below the Yellow and green lights on the MPU. I will check the power inputs to the backplane later today. Red lamp flashing in the red circled area on the attached picture.

That's going to be a software or mpu problem. Post a picture of the mpu board showing what chips are in it.
Rule #1: Do not connect or disconnect anything with the power on.

The area circled is the optical interface port for external controllers used to run linked progressives among other things.  It is typically not used on a home environment unless you are setting up a bank of linked progressive machines, which is not typical of a home use case.  Usually those ports are covered by a rubber plug to keep the optics clean when not used, but it doesn't really matter if you are never going to use it anyway.

Ok, I figured that out about the ports. Thanks, I am posting board pictures. What happens if I remove the battery and replace it?OK, the red flashing was coming from those ports.

You will get a ram error to clear. Is it giving you a main battery low error?

no battery error. Battery measures 3 volts. Ok had the ram error it cleared and went back to the original problem. Do the decimals in the windows mean something?I never noticed them before. Is there a flow chart for the start-up sequence?

No error messages? Coins drop to the tray. I see your BV bezel is lit. Does it take bills and allow game play?

Haven't tried that good thinking. will try tomorrow. Does the s2000 have the power  up/down reset circuitry? I am not sure which manual I saw this in. It was monitoring the 5-volt and 10-volt levels with a shutdown circuit 100 ms time out. Are the schematics available for my boards in the document section?

IM leaning toward a Powersupply failure I'm going to pull it and bench-test it. Is there anywhere to purchase another one?

The manual you posted the link to is for an S+ model - not an S2000.

Two different beasts.

Pull the comparitor, replace the sample coin with another, turn the sensitivity down with a micro screwdriver and re install. Also a good idea to re-seat the coin in optics connector while you have it in front of you. If that doesn't work, try holding the rake open with a piece of paper or something. Coins should go directly to the hopper then, see if you get credits.
