Title: 1984 IGT Aristrocrat 5 cent machine
Post by: BrianM on February 24, 2016, 08:15:27 PM
Going to look at what I believe may be an espirit. Current owner claims it locked up after he hit the JP and now it does not work.  Wonder if anyone has heard of this? Are parts hard to fine?

I'm not familiar with this specific machine but a lot of times when a slot machine hits a jackpot and then locks up you just need to turn the reset keyswitch to resume play. In the casino the machine would be pausing to allow casino staff to come over to the player, verify the jackpot and handpay his jackpot. Is there a reset keyswitch on the side of the machine, often on the same side as the pull handle?

I found part of what is supposed to be an Espirit manual, maybe it is for the same or a similar machine you are working on. It has a drawing (attached below) that shows a jackpot reset switch on the right side when facing the machine. Hopefully that is all that needs to be done to get it working again, and that they have the key.

I've also attached that partial Espirit manual just in case it is helpful.

Looks like it's a little more than a turn of the key.  Does not appear their is power to the coin mechanism and the reels do not spin when you pull the handle.
Music is great and we have power to the hopper and reels.  I also replaced the batteries.
I do not get any action when the reset buttons are pushed and I have an 8 in the last coin played display
Hope it not the boards however wonder if anyone know a person who can test them.  I use Dan in CA for my Bally boards and he does an excellent job
Thanks for your review

Check the fuses behind display.

It maybe IO board error.
Try to swap the positions  6821 PIA ic on IO board.

On  power up, when cam switch not closed, not starting motor.
Cam switch is closed?
24V fuse is OK?

Appears one of the issues is the reel motor.  Removed the motor and hooked it up to a power source it did not spin.  I then tried another motor other machine and it worked
