Title: S3000 arm: Light is not working
Post by: kldavidson on June 26, 2016, 03:10:52 PM
On one of my S3000's, the light up ball on the end of the mechanical arm is out. The other techs and I  are trying to figure out how to get just the light out to try and replace it so we dont have to replace the whole arm. Any ideas?

Well we don't get many (maybe any) S3000 questions on here. Welcome to NLG. Have you checked the wiring going to the arm for power? I can't imagine them not using LEDs for that. I'd look for a fuse or pinched or disconnected wire. And just for fun, how about a pic or two of this machine? Those are pretty new to be having issues with lighting.

If the ball is molded to the arm shaft and it's gone bad, I would assume you'll have to replace that part. It may be they screwed it on and used a pin to keep customers from tampering. Or it's entirely possible the light isn't mounted inside the ball at all, but in the lower part of the arm shaft, and it just shines up through the hollow shaft to light the ball, which would make it much easier to remove and service that light. Did IGT not provide instructions on removing/replacing this light? I would pull the arm assembly off and do some investigating to see how it's put together. As shaggy stated, it's most likely LED and checking the things he mentioned is a good place to start

You must be out of warranty on this?.  Last I seen the pull handle Balls were affixed to the handles.  I can check this and get back with you as on game change the pull arm ball changes color. Also as stated before we do not get many questions about these due to their newness.  For some that may want to know these are AVP driven with a 4.0 brain box and 8-gig to boot.  Very clean and nice on the inside and compact compared to some other models.  I looked at one once but that was at a expo and did not have time to really dissect it or take notes.

May need to rename the S2000/Vision Games board to S2000, S3000 and Vision Games. Or create a new board for S3000?

S3000?  I kinda want to ask how you obtained one., what it cost and where I can get one.

In regards to the move I would say create a new S3000 board as we will all eventually start seeing more posts and I feel it's best to start a new board now rather than tangle it in with others.  Besides it might start more post from those who have been reluctant till this point.

I agree.  S2000s and S3000s are completely different machines, so I don't think we should add them to the S2000 board.  I created a new S3000 category, and moved this post to the new category.

For the OP, as these machines are still very new to most of us (typically most of the members here are home hobbyists, not casino techs), I'd suggest that you might also want to post your question on the Slot Tech Forum (http://www.slottechforum.com/), which has many active casino techs who would likely be more familiar with this platform, and possibly the problem you're having.  Best of luck to you.

I think when he says "one of my S3000's" he means one of the machines he take care of in the casino. His post reads like he is currently a slot tech, he and the other slot folks are looking for advice. Not sure why they can't contact IGT, maybe he thought this would be faster. The IGT press release says they came out with the S3000 in fall of 2014, so it isn't even 2 years old yet.

just my opinion.....

These days, I would think that if he was a slot tech that he would just order another slot handle and call it a day.  But I could be wrong.

A little bit late the answer, In my machine the light went off because but the color was busted, I just changed the color from blue to red with the dip-switch.
